Few years ago I worked at a mainland bank and she and Mr Lee Yi Shyan hosted my colleagues and I for dinner. Ms Mdm Tan came across as extremely hardworking and very sharp. She was also pregnant then and we later learned she had her child just 4 days after that dinner. Good work ethics, if you'd ask me.
Corrected for you.

Tin has served as an MP for 15 years yet has not been promoted to Parliamentary Secretary or Minister of State, indicating that the PAP leadership does not see her as a capable candidate for higher office. This suggests she may step aside in the upcoming election or the one after. Her recent move to the private sector appears to be a strategic preparation for life after politics.

Even if she cannot be mos, mayor is still a possibility. Pap cannot afford to lose a vote magnet like her.

Migration is everywhere, even if your colleague is the first-gen s'porean in 00s, also s'porean what.

even if she don't exist, still 機會不等人。
Sure bro, fair game all things being equal, but the fact is she has indeed taken up a job that could have gone to a sinkie whose family has been here far longer. Point being.. Did we need to bring in new citizens to compete in a job that, frankly, can be performed by any of our current citizens?

In that case, I have a friend who is the son of a Gurkha and who is not able to find a job in Singapore at all. I would say he is more deserving of such opportunities.

they placed her in Macpherson SMC. Known for having many elderlies. Its a very small area. These elderlies saw how PAP improved their lives from pre independence to post independence to today. They are PAP spporters.

If they pt her in a smc carved ot of example sengkang grc/Aljnied GRC, chances are, she wpldn't be as poplar and wold probably even lose the poplar vote.

Look at the past reslts.

Macpherson SMC has always been a PAP stonghold with or withot TPL. Reslts have been consistent. Never going below 65%. Going as high as 86%

Hard for a pap candidate to fug up in that smc

It might be more the area then the candidate.

3 mp 3 time abolished. If didn't know better would have thought they keep it only when confident win good. :s22:

Anyway, forgot that CSJ got challenged there before. Maybe should consider coming back to the east try try. Can just do a walkabout test water.

Think general impression the support for incumbent vs opposition have been more or less around 60/40 plus/minus. What is surprising is most of the places can maintain that kind of majority giving incumbent almost plus/minus 90/10 result consistently. Like defying nature. :s22:

This is a salient point. Not sure why so much is made about "new citizens". For every "new citizen" over the last 5 years, you have 3-4 x these new citizens who acquired the citizenship between 2000 and 2020.

These folks will be facing the same issues as the average Sinkie.
Bingo! Those who got their citizenship during that period and are not rich enough to run road to US or Europe afterwards thought they had the SG dream in their hands....

But after 5 to 25 years in Singapore, they realised the super passport is not worth the other troubles that comes with it lol....The SG dream is just a scam lol!

She didn’t do much actually, she just knows how to package her PR image well when attending events in her ward by mingling with the seniors in her area wherever there’s the media around. Which leads her to having a strong support in the geylang east/ Aljunied crescent area. The real macpherson area itself where circuit road and balam rd are located are simply negligible for her because its filled with FTs nowadays who rent rooms and a new workers dorm right smack in the middle of the flats there creating another kind of problems altogether.

And she still couldn’t work closely with SPF to ensure the illegal gambling, drug problems within the rental flats at circuit road are kept under control either.

what was lacking back then was a really credible opposition candidate to give her a good fight when she was still in a SMC, if there’s a really good alternative she might not even be here today, but sadly this time she bao jiak already because she is hiding back inside the grc system.
Think like got more events in the circuit road side than geylang east.

Circuit road only the middle part that is inside of the inverted U is the older 10 storey housing. The surrounding outside of the inverted U, mostly are newer housings, with alot of young people buying.

The CC is also on the circuit road side. And there is a goto empty space just next to expressway in front of CC that side people always like to hold events and festive celebrations.

So, there seems more event on the Circuit road side compare to geylang east side, which is mostly older folks, thus more straightforward the event.

This April still got two events lined up which is on the circuit road side newer housing, think.

CSJ go to Macpherson because he and Matthias Yao got into an exchange on 156th’s Forum page … so this was purely a grudge match from a war-of-words. He didn’t give a $#!t about Macpherson, and the votes say Macpherson clearly didn’t give a $#!t about him as well.

Srsly though. The Forum page back-and-forth was damn lame to be honest … if you can look up what CSJ wrote to Matthias Yao, you would see a lot of usage of the word “silly” where clearly he meant to say “stupid”.

Sengkang will still in WP hand or go back to lighting ?
Sengkang GRC is likely to be retained by WP. The demographic of Sengkang and the absence of heavyweight PAP minister work to WP's favour. The majority should be 10% or lesser (e.g., WP 55% PAP 45%).

The only scenario in which electorates from the Opposition wards will shift towards the PAP in the next election is if the WP succeeds in preventing the PAP from securing a supermajority.

Like it or not - majority of Singaporeans want PAP to govern Singapore but at the same time wanting alternative voices in Parliament. Swing voters will likely to lean towards CREDIBLE opposition until PAP loses its supermajority.

And this is why i think we should let all these 3-4 corners to happen in non crucial wards.

E. g BB- Jurong east, since Chee is not going there SDP will certainly not win. But SDP should still field a team and 3 corner RDU (if they insist to contest) and let them lose their deposits.

There are too many wannabes opposition parties and we keep seeing new ones being formed (newest being that splinter of reform party). All these rubbish parties (esp the likes of Lim Tean and Goh meng seng) gives opposition a very bad name as they do not offer constructive solutions, but make a lot of noise and stake their claims everywhere.

Let all these people lose their deposit so we will be left with lesser but quality opposition (wp, psp, sdp).

I agree with you that too many trash opposition like NSP, SDA, SPP, SUP, Pink Dot, PPP and PAR make lots of noises on social media but never do any walkabout give Singaporeans an impression they are empty vessels or troublemakers and drag down the reputation of WP and PSP. WP and PSP have the freedom to choose where they want to contest to get at least 1/3 number of seats and make these trash parties lose their deposits
