Aerial view of the collapsed building. Collapsed straight down without much side spill. 30 floors became piled without pillars same height as the mscp. However if really tofu construction, why the 7-8 storeys high mscp and the round tall structure with just a few tall slender pillars still standing. Some of the collapsed debris leaning against the mscp.

True story, young Thai local at work developed health complications while trying to evacuate, didn't manage to make it to hospital cause of all the traffic jams.
By "didn't manage to make it", means RIP? :(

Think the building looks like house of sticks from the look outside. Pillars so thin. Fall until so 干脆. Like textbook demolition. Fall inward on itself. Don't even need a demolition team to plan it out that swee. :s22:

Nobody will build tall buildings that are supported by the reclaimed layer. The buildings will have deep foundation into the original soil/bedrock under the reclaimed layer.

S'pore tremors raise fear of building on reclaimed land

"Reclaimed land is made up of sea sand, so buildings will be shaken up more violently during earthquakes as compared to those on non-reclaimed land, which is solid and will not be liquefied by the shake," said Fan Sau Cheong, an engineering professor at Singapore's Nanyang Technological University.

He told Reuters that buildings on reclaimed land may shake two to three times more than those on natural land during earthquakes because sand in reclaimed land slides like liquid when saturated with water, in a process called liquefaction.

On Tuesday, about 150 buildings in Singapore were rattled by the quake and hundreds of people in the financial district fled their offices. No buildings were damaged and nobody was hurt.
