In sg, new hdb and condo all 40-50 floors. If same earthquake hits sg, will be interesting how many will be left standing. And what will be PAP position on it? Once every 500 years? Monitoring? Haizzz

Not true. If the building is not designed for earthquake then the likelihood of a collapse is high

You think sinkieland HDBs are designed for earthquake? What will happen if an earthquake hits sinkieland?
This was answered in parliament. Singapore buildings designed to withstand 143km/h wind gust.

Said we are located far from earthquake fault zone and all buildings managed to survive magnitude 9 in aceh so no need to worry. That was what thailand thought too?

nevertheless bca has standard for design of building for earthquake resistant starting from 2013. based on eurocode 8. But what about buildings before 2013.

Singapore is not located in an earthquake zone. The nearest earthquake fault zone is located in Sumatra, more than 400 kilometres away. Over such a long distance, the seismic waves would have dissipated and lost most of their energy. Nevertheless, our buildings are designed to be sufficiently robust to withstand forces generated by distant earthquakes. For example, while tremors from the magnitude 9 earthquake in Aceh in 2004 could be felt in Singapore, there were no reports of structural damage to our buildings. Sorry, that's not direct hit hor

Singapore buildings designed to withstand 143km/h wind gust is not earthquake lah. Should ask whether can HDBs withstand an earthquake. I know those tall buildings in CBD are designed for earthquake

What is so hard to understand?

Bangkok is much more populated. More people, more likely to have more posts.

Bangkok also has many foreigners and many are using our languages, so the posts reach us.

Mandalay some infrastructure down, so some might not even have internet.

Mandalay is also much more affected, many people cannot, no time, or no mood to post.

Many reporters kope content online de.

Thailand is of more interest to us.

Similar to why Ukraine-Russia is in the news all the time but you practically never hear about Rwanda backed M23 militants conflict against the DRC.

Becos AMDK has little to no significant vested interests in Myanmar while BKK has many many more? Many give no shift to Myanmar since no chance to jiak their mangoes, earn their money and exploit their resources.
With this earthquake, not so rich Myanmar is now seeking foreign help, which will result to a possibility of opening new opportunities there. Myanmar junta regime may give some consensus with those who help them in rescue work and subsequent rebuilding of the nation. China, India, AMDK and other major powers will be looking for inroads. Akan Datang.
