There is only ONE criteria to go into parliament (beyond Singapore citizen, adult and of sound mind with no existing criminal record iirc). And that is to be voted in. By saying so and so should be in when he or she didn’t win the vote disrespects the democratic aspect.

PAP does the same. It should be one man one vote and not vote for a team. There will be “free riders” riding along the coat tails of good ministers. So I think it shouldn’t be the way also. But the opposition supporters are also thinking the same way.
