Ng Shi Xuan is ok. Young and fresh and works in Civil Service before taking over his family business , so know who is the boss. and his face and youth can connect with youngsters

Gabriel Lam not so much. already got the boss aura and 1st introduction already want to correct Minister. lol.
OYK says they dont live here ... and donno the place well..
then he come on to do his introduction and say the Minister says we do not live in Sembawang but actually my family moved into tSembawang GRC in 1988 and then went on to show more proof of how well he know the area and how he have been serving in GRC.

So with that 1st pargraph of introduction.. he already offended all of PAP.
1st) Minister donno the candidate he is introducing to the GRC . Someone who is supposedly caring for the GRC and have the interest of the GRC at heart . but do not have the effort or incentive to know who he is introuducing as candidate to take care of the GRC.

2nd) show PAP is the ultimate decision maker of who to parachute to the GRCs and even the Minister has no say to the GRC he is taking care of.

3rd) Gabriel EQ.. walan.. "he could have just skipped the first sentence "Minister say we do not live in sembawang".. and just carry on with how well he know the GRC. That's enough. By saying that first sentence, he is pointing out Minister flaw in #1 as well as correcting him on a trivial matter(but matters to him).
All of the above is no problem or issue with daft Sinkies.

The point is to gib citizens learning opportunity to learn gerrymandering. Fairness is only available to those in power. Those with no power, there is no fairness. Those w little power, fairness is an unattainable aspiration.

Okay, prediction: PSP will win West Coast-Jurong West GRC. I live at Jurong West Street 81.

Few weeks ago, before they announced the boundaries, I already foresaw that the town council banner at Jurong West Park will have PSP group photo (with PSP iconic red and white shirt), along with “West Coast-Jurong West GRC” written below it.

Also, I already foresaw PSP parading around West Coast-Jurong West GRC to thank voters, the day after the voting day.

Really something to look forward to.
So PSP have a warm reception at Tharman Jurong? But that area is PAP stronghold and not sure how much the departure of Tharman will affect the votes for PAP.

This kind of last min air drop.
Whether the candidate worked in the area, the residents will know.
Either he is the one helping out at the MTP session or he is the one chasing unnecessary residents away when his boss is walking the ground.

Point 2 is something many of us have known for a long time.

As I have always been saying, elections in sg is more about voting for the party than the individual. There's where the term "rubber stamping" come from because everyone outside of party leadership is just there to +1 in parliament.

I don't think it is a stretch to say that they could field a murderer or a literal monkey, and people will still vote for them because the belief is that the ultimate decision making rests with the leadership of the party.

I remember speaking to an ah peh (pioneer generation) many years ago. He was a staunch MIW supporter. When I asked him what he thought of the new MIW candidate that would be contesting his GRC, he told me bluntly that he didn't know any of their names and didn't care to know more about them, only that they are from MIW. His view was that only LKY matterered and as long as the rest of the party followed his instructions, it didn really matter who it was.
