These candidates have better education and career pedigrees (Harvard, MBB consulting, big4 local law firm) than some of our existing PAP MPs (australian uni, audit, no name law firms, no name local banks).

And then you have oppo members who are ex-scholars like Gerald Giam and Hazel Poa.

Gotta wonder why people with elite backgrounds are starting to disdain PAP and prefer opposition...

Smiles and thumbs up greet WP team at Marine Parade – Braddell Heights

SINGAPORE: New Workers’ Party member Harpreet Singh wrote about the warm reception the WP team receives at what is now Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC, shining a light on the work that Nathaniel Koh and Fadli Fawzi have put in on the ground for the past few years.

Mr Singh, a senior counsel of the Supreme Court of Singapore, wrote on Tuesday (April 1) that the response of residents has been “Warm, generous, *(and) deeply encouraging.”

“As Nat shared, some elderly residents don’t even need an introduction to us—“I see your logo, I know already,” they say with a smile and thumbs up to the WP’s hammer logo on our t-shirts,” he added.

Mr Singh has been part of the WP team going around the various estates at Marine Parade for the past 18 months.

He noted that Messrs Koh and Fadli had been on the WP slate that contested at Marine Parade GRC in the 2020 General Election. Although the ruling People’s Action Party had a heavyweight team, including two ministers and the then-Speaker of the House, the WP team won 42 per cent of the vote.

This showed that WP had gained ground at Marine Parade GRC since the 2015 GE when it received 35.95 per cent of the vote. The WP team that year included current Sengkang MP He Ting Ru and former Non-constituency MP Yee Jenn Jong.

“That result, in what many consider a traditional PAP stronghold, shows the substantial level of support among Singaporeans for a more balanced politics in our country,” Mr Singh added.

He also wrote that in spite of having full-time jobs and young families, Messrs Koh and Fadli have continued their work on the ground since 2020, showing up nearly every week, connecting with residents and hearing out their concerns.

Since the electoral boundaries have been redrawn, the WP team on the ground has expanded its outreach to the new areas of MacPherson, Mountbatten, and parts of Potong Pasir. It has also been giving out Hari Raya goodies to families and attending events in the community.

“Moments like that remind us: the groundwork and door-to-door visits matter. And that trust must be earned, not just during elections but during the time in between. Our team is here to listen, to learn, and to serve. And it’s our pleasure doing so,” said Mr Singh.

Both Mr Koh and Mr Fawzi are members of the WP’s Central Executive Committee.

Mr Koh is the Deputy Treasurer and a former president of the WP Youth Wing. Having been with the WP since at least 2009, he was also a Secretarial Assistant to party chief Pritam Singh from 2016 to 2020. He works as an IT professional and is married with two young children.

Mr Fawzi has been with the WP since 2013, assisting with Meet the People sessions and other grassroots activities.

He currently conducts monthly policy sessions for members and volunteers. By profession, he is a lawyer with Inkwell Law Corporation and specialises in litigation work. Like Mr Koh, Mr Fawzi is also married, and he and his wife have one daughter.

Commenters on Mr Harpreet Singh’s post appeared to agree with him about the WP team’s work on the ground.

While one Facebook user wrote, “(we) need you for our better Singapore,” another commented, “you and your team have worked the ground selflessly. What more can voters of MPBH ask for?”

One supporter wrote, “Kudos to Nathaniel Koh, Fadli Fawzi, and all members of the Workers’ Party for their unwavering dedication—walking the ground consistently, listening with genuine intent, and standing ready to serve the people when entrusted with the responsibility.
True representation isn’t about appearing only near elections; it’s about earning trust through continuous effort. Singapore deserves leaders who are present not just for the votes, but for the people.” /TISG

Somehow the way these ikan billis parties behave tells me they never seem to learn their lesson 😂
WP only contest areas which they visit frequently not places like Clementi or Boon Lay or Woodlands where there are also WP supporters but too far from their strongholds. Their agenda for this election is to aim for 1/3 of the seats to deny PAP supermajority which means NSP, SDA, PPP and PAR will be pushed away to central or western part of Singapore to kill each other

If they learn their lesson they would have form a mega alliance like Pakatan Harapan in Malaysia that has several small parties contesting under PH but they let their ego and KKJ rule and unable to see the big picture

When the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) announced their intent to contest in Pasir Ris-Changi GRC, I wrote them off without even giving them hearing them out. In a turn of events, I decided to give them a fair shake and find out what the SDA and its secretary-general, Mr Desmond Lim, are made of.

This guy has a heart of gold. I don't think voters deserve him. We have voted in a lot of so-called "capable" people, but look at how they screw us over. Smart people will line their own pocket first, only people with heart to serve will think about citizens first. And Kian Boon I don't agree w your statement that we need to always shout about our work, I think it is the management that needs to identify talented people and not loud people.

Before the 2025 general election, Pasir Ris-Changi GRC was formed by merging the remaining wards in Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC; being Pasir Ris East, Pasir Ris Central and Pasir Ris West, along with the Changi part of the East Coast GRC. As a result, Loyang and Flora estates will come under this GRC, as opposed to East Coast GRC.

The GRC shall also cover the North-Eastern Islands of Singapore, including Pulau Tekong and Pedra Branca.

EDMW hates elites but worships them once they wear blue. :s13:
Pap say we need to pay top private sector pay to attract talents, and yet we are seeing elites joining opposition instead (where they may not even be elected, or even if elected will never reach a minister salary). Unlike the elites in the other side, these people truly want to make a change and not trying to get an easy ride n high salary. Why is this not deserving of respect?

Power lah! Happy to see so many established people joining oppo.

The imh director could have easily parachute into parliament if he joined pap but chose to join oppo instead. Really showed his heart to serve.
Think for high caliber people if they join incumbent they are just another cog in the system. It takes more than that to be noticed inside. But if go to the others, at least with the rarity, the ability would be recognised more bah. It somewhat like big fish in a small pond vs small fish in a big pond thingy.
