just now crossed path with West Coast-JW GRC candidate Dr Hamid, he was alone walking the ground without hooha. He have been present on the ground ever since Tharman left.

But seeing him on the ground walking just now, alone without a big team, signals something. I don't know what it signals though

ya.. totally nothing on Cheng Li Hui since then...its like she disappeared.. or migrated

then the MOM event ytd... ST mentioned Tan Chuan Jin but only put his name, never say more about his saga
Wonder if the rumours of addition to the TFR statistics is true.

There's always a reason why ST has falling readership. They are the gov's mouthpiece, will only say good things about them. You won't see multiple pages on pappies sagas. TCJ's name mentioned could be to keep him warm, or floating test balloons.

Maybe MIW expects to lose it. Like not much news abt the MIW team for this GRC. Desmond the monitor Leezard can hold this GRC on his own? I doubt so.

The escalating cost of living is really very serious. Even my friend working as a doctor earning high pay also tells me he is planning to move to another city such as BKK for retirement. 😥
in previous years he seldom speak out against PAP but since the last GE, can sense his unhappiness towards PAP increasing
Think all along incumbent seems like somewhat taking people for fools. They all along give the impression they don't trust people to know what's right for people own good. Only they know best. Yet they always make like they got listen and always able to convince people into believing they listen and helping. But more they help the worse many felt.

In the past think due to the somewhat blind trust that everything will be fine under incumbent, many may not really realise the disparity. But now with the escalating cost of living and increasing excuses making it hard for reality to match their promises. Think its starting to wear people down. Many are beginning to realise they are being foolish. :s22:

"The 62-year-old takes home about $2,900 a month, and spends $200 a week on groceries. He said most months he lives from pay cheque to pay cheque, and hardly has savings.

“I recently had to fork out $1,300 to buy a laptop for my son’s polytechnic studies. I skipped lunch for half a month,” he said.

$1300 / 15 = $86 per lunch

He eat lunch at Marriott?

Just take what MSM reported as a pinch of salt lor. Haha

Long-Term one party super majority will never end well in the long run one.

Singapore over the past 20-30 years or so, the living standards of Average Citizens has been decreasing steadily albeit slowly (abit like 温水煮青蛙/ warm water cook frog method) due to ever-rising high COL.

Only know how to increase GDP by brining in new citizens to increase consumption and play with statistics. As a result, housing more and more unaffordable too.

Venezuela is a good example of how a long-term one party supermajority ended baddy for the country.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_policy_of_the_Hugo_Chávez_administration#:~:text=Economic growth and production,-This section needs&text=The Chavez government's confiscations of,political supporters of the president.

Hugo Chavez abit like LKY in a sense, popular when he was around but honestly speaking the negative aspects of the country was partly due to his policies/direction one.

Fill the cabinet with cronies and gave them power in policy-making. In the end, all the policies main focus are to enrich own pockets rather than improve life of citizens.

Just that when things come crashing down, it all happened during the successors reign in power thus people don't associate with him directly.
Russia under Putin and Cuba under Fidel Castro also same situation.

Argentina was once 1 of the world's most developed country at a time, but fell down to developing status due to the long-term impact of the policies/action enacted by the Videla Administration during his time in charge.

So never say never, anything can happen. Now we have the chance to properly move Singapore from the one-party supermajority status it is at now. Hope everyone can make use of this opportunity well.

After seeing PAP try to backstab Singaporeans with their NTUC-Allianz deal, and hearing insider stories about how bad things are at Temasek...

I don't think I trust PAP to be any more capable than oppo to lead us in troubled times.

In fact I think the most credible oppo parties (WP, PSP and SDP) have on average much more capable candidates on paper with stellar backgrounds (Harvard, top lawyers, top MBB consultants, top doctors) than the average PAP MP.

GE2025: Singapore Democratic Party unveils Sembawang GRC candidates

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) on Sunday (Apr 6) unveiled the five candidates who will contest in Sembawang Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the upcoming General Election.

They are party vice-chairman Bryan Lim, treasurer Surayah Akbar, deputy head of policy James Gomez and members Damanhuri Abas and Alfred Tan.

The candidates were presented by party chairman Professor Paul Tambyah before a walkabout at Kampung Admiralty in Woodlands Drive.

Last month, Dr Chee said the SDP would embark on a "northern strategy" for the 2025 General Election and send a team to contest in Sembawang GRC.

He also announced that he would run in the new Sembawang West Single Member Constituency (SMC), which is among the six new single-seat constituencies that have been carved out.

Sembawang GRC is currently helmed by a five-member team from the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) led by Health Minister Ong Ye Kung. The other members are Mr Vikram Nair, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Ms Mariam Jaafar and Ms Poh Li San.

Sembawang GRC is a familiar battleground for the SDP, having contested in the constituency in the 2006 and 2011 elections. But it lost to the PAP both times, getting 23.3 per cent of the votes in 2006 and 36.1 per cent in 2011.

The National Solidarity Party (NSP) contested the GRC in 2015 and 2020 and also lost to PAP.

Sembawang GRC will have 133,919 voters in the upcoming election.

Besides Sembawang GRC and SMC, the SDP has said it would also contest in Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC and Bukit Panjang SMC.

He (Dr Hamid) not exactly new, when Tharman resigned, he was seen tagging along with other MPs, and went for some ground festive events on his own. Some residents here already knew him since last year. I don't think he needs some introduction.

Is it enough, we shall see..
