With SSH access and installation of ENTWARE, you can use a lot of Linux command inside Asus routers.

Asus router Entware installation guide, with stock Asus FW.
https://github.com/Entware/Entware/wiki/Install-on-ASUS-stock-firmware

Some useful tools: ping, ip, ifconfig, iptables, nslookup, traceroute, tcpdump, wget, curl, etc.

Example:
Bash:
xiaofan@TUF_6500-5020:/tmp/opt/root/ookla# ./speedtest -s 13623

   Speedtest by Ookla

                131.91 ms (jitter: 69.91ms, low: 1.89ms, high: 828.49ms)

Hi there,
I am looking to setup something similar next year when my SH contract will be over. Can I check if you are using the RJ45 WAN/LAN point in the BE88U or SFP+ port to connect to the ONT? If you are using the SFP+ port, can you advice what is the transceiver you are using to do so, as I understand the ONT that Starhub provided is RJ45 only.
Hi hi sorry to reply u so late. I connected it into the 10G RJ45 port. Did not use the sfp+ port

I tried, connecting the starhub ONT into RJ45 WAN/LAN 1 or the 10G port is, both also can connect to starhub ISP network.

Try this, go to WAN menu and change from Auto Detect to the specific port you are connecting to Starhub ONT
Just sharing for those who bought/are thinking of buying the china version BE88U , this method worked for me!

Managed to resolve my china BE88U connection issues by designating the WAN port. Router no problems now

For BE6500, if you are setting region to AU, will it open more channel options?
No.

Asus TUF-BE6500 China version seems to be the only Asus China version router to have this problem -- only CN and AU region settings available.

I was hoping the FW updates will sort out the issue but so far no FW updates yet.

On the other hand, it is not a real problem for most users.

Hi Xiao Fan and community lads.

Will be re-contracting with Starhub ( haven't firmed on 3gb or 5gb, don't know what's the huge difference), and need some help for router / modems.

I stay in a 3 storey landed and router is currently on the 2nd floor living room, with a direct land line to my desktop in my room. There are 3 google wifi 5 satellites through the power plugs.

Don't have a NAS and do some casual gaming, but mostly televisions and phones are hooked up. Not content creator either.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Do you have LAN ports in all three floors? This is the number one question.

What is your budget? This the number two question.

Last question will be about expectations. When you say you have three Google WiFi 5 satellites through the power plugs, what do you mean by power plugs? Using Power Line adapters? Or just wireless backhaul? The performance should be quite bad with wireless backhaul. How satisfied are you for the current wireless performance?

I only utilise active LAN ports on the 2nd floor, 1 to the router and 1 to my computer.

Honestly, I'm also looking at value, as an upgrade from Wifi 5, will need your guidance. With my basic understanding, was considering the XT8, even though it was wifi 6 and may not be suitable for Starhub Wifi7.

After googling, I meant wireless backhaul. The two satellites were used on the 1st and 3rd floor to expand the wifi reach, although it is not the best. There is also one satellite on the 2nd floor opposite the router to expand that front as well.

Current approach gives me access to internet, albeit a bit slow. I think it's time to upgrade the package, or at least maintain the cheap package, but with a new router and satellites to improve the connection.. Although the current package is 1gbps.

Your best bet may be M1 6Gbps new user offer at S$34.90 per month, you can top up S$12 per month for a pair of ZenWiFi BT10. Then you can get another two Asus ZenWiFi BT10 at about S$504 PWP offer from M1 (you need to check if that is possible or not).

Starhub has removed the 5Gbps offer at S$29.55 with free HB710 a few days ago. But if you want to continue with Starhub, you can go with Starhub 3Gbps offer at S$29.55 (with free HB410), you can get four HB710 from Starhub at S$192 x 4 = S$768. In this case, you will be using TP-Link EasyMesh, which is not as good as Asus AIMesh or TP-Link's own Deco Mesh.

4 nodes of HB710 or 4 nodes of ZenWiFi BT10 will be much better than your four nodes of Google WiFi.

Thanks for your suggestion and guidance.

Have checked online and realised that BT10 is insanely expensive through online retailers, for some reason that is unknown to me. Would you happen to know of an alternative to BT10 from Asus? Slightly trusting Asus more than a TP link.

I've also checked the M1 option and think that for a set of BT10, it would be 56.09 / month for 24 months. Not sure of the PWP option.

I'll have to go check on the Starhub option, as it is bundled together w TV and etc, although slightly hesitant on HB710.. Good if anyone has a review on this.. Will only be selecting 1 main router and 2 satellites, think it would be sufficient..

Thanks for the info, will definitely look at it.

In the event I retain as a Starhub user, is there another Asus router / satellite that you can recommend?Or is the TP Link ones worth considering.

Surprisingly, the retailers v Carousell price for BT10 is insanely different........

Nothing beats the value of Asus ZenWiFi BT10 in the open market from Asus, especially you have to use wireless backhaul.

BTW, Carousell prices for two Asus ZenWiFi BT10 units are also dropping below S$700 (dumped by M1 users). Take note Asus retail pricing is insanely high at S$1299.

If you want to stick with Starhub, nothing beats the value of HB710 since you need to use wireless backhaul.

Thanks for the advice, I do like Asus quite a bit, heard it's more long lasting than TP Link.

Will hope that SH can get this into their offers, especially since I lost the bandwagon for the 5gbps at a cheaper rate..

If not, I may go with what you mentioned, having 2 HB710 as satellites, but get an archer to be the main router. Maybe it could be a HB810 as well, depending on price.

Happy to hear your thoughts.

I just got A CN unit of TUF-BE6500. I set this as an AI Mesh node with ethernet backhaul with local BE6500 router which I got from MyRepublic. I am happy to report that they both are working well together and my dead zone issue seems to have disappeared.

Asus ZenWifi ET12 Pro firmware update

the replacement for the March 2025 firmware update that got pulled is now available as of April 17th 2025.

ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36597

Version 3.0.0.6.102_36597

50.96 MB

2025/04/17

SHA-256 :9E20908C366F192FD651BAC1AACF567428F1B07E34AF71E5A5654E255F1F0ABC

1. Fixed the UI issue in Chrome.

2. Fixed client binding issues in Mesh scenarios.

3. Enhanced input parameter handling techniques to improve data processing stability and system security.

4. Enhance system access control mechanisms.

5. Improved system stability and security by fixing a kernel integrity validation issue.

*Do NOT downgrade the firmware on any mesh device (router or node).

Due to enhanced security mechanisms, both the router and node must be upgraded together. Downgrading may result in a mismatch of security protocols between devices, causing the mesh connection to fail.
