if not for this court case, him leaving Aljunied GRC would have bring stellar results

so the next safe bet is, slyvia lim leave to go east coast
I do not think that the court case would have tarnished his reputation severely. When LKY brought out CST's secondary school report and compare it to MBT's sterling records, CST went on to beat MBT. The disclosure of LHD's dismissal from the police force did not prevent him from winning the seat in Gombak.

GE2025: Hong Kah North MP Amy Khor to retire from politics

SINGAPORE – Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, as well as for Transport, will not contest in the 2025 General Election after over two decades of service due to ‘personal reasons’.

Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong announced this in response to questions from the media at a press conference to unveil the PAP slate for Chua Chu Kang GRC and Bukit Gombak SMC on April 14, thanking Dr Khor for her many years of service.

He also paid tribute to how she brought together the community in Hong Kah North, as well as the wider area.

DPM Gan noted that the Tengah estates that were part of Hong Kah North SMC have been folded into Chua Chu Kang GRC for the upcoming election. The remaining part of the SMC was merged with Jurong GRC and Bukit Batok and Yuhua SMCs to form a new Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC.

Dr Khor has been the MP for Hong Kah North SMC since its formation in 2011, winning the seat in three general elections on the trot.

In 2020, she captured 60.98 per cent of the 27,188 votes cast in a straight fight with Gigene Wong of the Progress Singapore Party.

As Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, a portfolio she has held since 2015, Dr Khor championed measures to reduce waste, especially electronic, packaging and food waste, as well as promoted hawker culture, among other issues.

Since 2020, she served as Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Transport, where she focused on improving the taxi and private hire car industry. She also pushed for more transport links to the nascent Tengah town, where connectivity had been a bugbear of its earliest residents.

Trained in real estate valuation, Dr Khor holds a doctorate in real estate from the University of Reading in Britain.

In a Facebook post on April 14, Dr Khor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the Hong Kah North area for the last 24 years over five terms of government. She said that she is ready and happy to make way for party renewal, and thanked grassroots volunteers and residents.

“It has been a privilege and honour to be able to engage and work with (Hong Kah North) residents to understand their needs and concerns and help improve their lives and living environment. I am most thankful for their strong support all these years.”

She added: “As I close this very precious and memorable chapter of my life I look forward to the next chapter where I will continue to look for opportunities to serve and contribute to the community to the best of my ability.”

She has a very special ability of frying eggs without fire

i think its better if they allocate 10k SSB or something rather than bitcoin. personally i feel crypto has no place in government. just because it has no intrinsic value.
I advocate for Bitcoin, not anything else that wants to call itself a cryptocurrency. $10k in a SSB is nice but will significantly underperform a broad market over 21 years. I am proposing that a S$10k in BBFA, locked until 21. Give the new generation hope against the widening wealth inequality.

Dear jeremytansg,

How about ETH? Can we buy?

Also, where and when can we buy BTC? I have zero knowledge in crypto. Please help fellow Singaporean, especially when I am retired and no income now.

Confidence for the future. More good years ahead... Let us take Singapore forward together.
Thank you.

Bitcoin ONLY. Not crypto. Bitcoin has the potential to become the largest monetary network eventually as more individuals spend the time studying how revolutionary it really is and start adopting usage of bitcoin in everyday transactions( we are already seeing a leap) … history repeats over and over again… superior monetary technology always wins… (recommend reading lyn Alden’s : Broken Money book to EVERYONE)

we are seeing nations, and individual states in the USA exploring bitcoin to be held as reserves. China and Russia are already transacting oil trades via bitcoin. Our govt should def be looking into holding bitcoin as a strategic reserve too. Not saying go all in, but even just a 3% allocation for a start (after all GIC also invests in blockchain companies - FTX saga). More importantly , this extends to all individuals too, even if you don’t believe it yet (function of you not studying it yet that’s all)

What I think this whole campaign can do is spark conversations and hope that some folks will walk away from this and start reading up more, gain understanding, and when there are enough folks who understand we can drive change to a fair monetary system which is bitcoin. And then we can effect positive change in Singapore.. as incentives change due to bitcoin.

60% supported probably for town council or their town affairs, such as crime rate, cleaniness, amenities and etc leh...

At least that's what my surrounding friends did...

crime rate? sure bo.
that one really is out of control of the MP and it is in the interest of the government to maintain low crime rate in singapore. The financial incentives are more immense for the govt to be proactively doing it .. be it opopsition or ruling party wards

yeap i don't think it will tarnish severely, but definitely some damage

good thing is, Aljunied GRC has gained a lot more supporters in the last GE, so even if they "lose" support, they have a good range of support to lose and yet still win
