Those that just recently signed up for 5gbps ONT promotion directly with SH or via Selina

Is there any one time fee?

I am wondering why my agreement later has 61.04 one time fee

Just fyi

Selina (the recommended Starhub Sales Agent) said that the $29.55 offer is only for new user. However, if you're like me an existing SH user due for recontract, you can still sign up as new user to enjoy this promo rate. Upon successful installation of the new fibre plan, can then proceed to cancel your old/existing plan (pro-rated if there's overlap)
Have you signed up through Selina? Any 1 time fee or completely 0 fee

Thank you

Guys, I was thinking of switching to Starhub 5gbps from M1 as M1 6gbps is not available in my area.
Contacted m1 and they told me termination notice need to be 14 days in advance.
Say if I terminate today, my internet supply will be terminated with immediate effect, but the port m1 will take 2 weeks to release. During this period of 2 weeks, m1 will continue to charge my subscription.
Does that mean I can only arrange starhub to install in 2 weeks time? Or I can ask them to install at their earliest available date, since we have 2 ports naturally.

You should ask Starhub to install at the earliest date. Then you should only cancel after Starhub is up -- sometimes you do not if there are any issues with NLT (to activate the second port) or the new ISP (Starhub in this case).

Question for experts here, the Nokia ONT for the 5gbps plan (Nokia XS-240X-A) seems only have the 10Gbps port enabled. Is there anyway to enable the other 3 LAN for wired back haul of the second TP Link hb710?

answer is NO

SH's ONT has only 1 activated 10Gbps Port, the others port are invalid

if you want to have wired-backhaul, try this instead:
ONT's 10Gbps Port <-> HB710 [Master Node] <-> Master Node's other available Ports for other HB710s

if not enough, then get a network-switch

2.4GHz tends to be slow for all WiFi 7 routers, including HB710 and EB810v.

In fact, you can say 2.4GHz is in general slow in Singapore due to congestions, no matter which routers you use, no matter it is WiFi 6/6/7.

In general do not count on 2.4GHz band for your main devices like PC and mobile phones.
That is the limitation of HB710. I use EB810v one router for whole 4 room flat.

tried to message Salina but got no reply yet... M1 6Gbps unavailable at my location... any suggestion for next best option if I need ONT?

SingTel keeps calling me to upgrade and still does not offer ONT option for anything above 1Gbps... They just don't record why I rejected upgrade each time. But this 1Gbps is now costing me $58 a month...

Edit: Salina replied saying no longer available

I've recently signed up for StarHub's 5 Gbps plan, which includes a free TP-Link HB710 router. The installation is scheduled for next week. I have a few questions regarding the setup:

  1. ONT Terminal Ports: Does the StarHub ONT terminal have multiple active Ethernet ports that I can use to connect directly to switches in my HDB DB box? I currently route each ONT port to a separate switch for dedicated wired connections in each room and for the router in the hall for WiFi.
  2. Security Concerns: If I don't use a router and firewall for all wired connections, are there significant security risks? Is it recommended to route the room's wired connections through a router for added security?
  3. Switches as Alternatives: If the ONT terminal does not support multiple active ports, would I need to use switches to manage my wired connections? Any advice on setting this up securely would be appreciated.

All three questions have been replied recently.

ONT : only single 10G LAN port is active. Other three 1G LAN ports are not functional.

ONT -- HB710 -- switch

Switch to be used after HB710 router:

For people who want to get a bit better switches for HB710, please refer to the following two threads.

2.5G switches:
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...reless-router-nas-switch-and-adapter.6347648/

2.5G/10G switches and 10G switches
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...and-switch-rj45-version-no-sfp-ports.7072646/

1. Starhub recommended 2.5G switches to go with HB410 and 10G switches for HB710/EB810v.

Starhub Broadband Router FAQ.

1) What switch is compatible with TP-Link HB410?
The following switches are compatible with HB410:

TL-SG108S-M2 8-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Desktop Switch
TL-SG105S-M2 5-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Desktop Switch

2) What switch is compatible with TP-Link HB710?
The following switches are compatible with HB710:

TL-SX105 5-Port 10G Desktop switch
TL-DS105x 5-Port 10G Desktop Switch
TL-DS1008x 8-Port 10G Desktop/ rackmount Switch

3) What switch is compatible with TP-Link EB810v?
The following switches are compatible with EB810v:

TL-SX105 5-Port 10G Desktop switch
TL-DS105x 5-Port 10G Desktop Switch
TL-DS1008x 8-Port 10G Desktop/ rackmount Switch

2. The 10G switches recommended by Starhub are pretty expensive. So you may want to check out the following thread for 10G switches or 2.5G/10G switches. Many users only has one 10G capable device, so it is cheaper to get mixed 2.5G/10G switches in that case.

Power users may take a look at switches with SFP+ ports.

Excellent
It’s in demand so those trying to lowball will miss out

S$170 seems to be a very reasonable price for HB710. HB710 is a good buy even at S$192, at least for now.

More things to watch:
1) Let's how fast the price will further drop of M1 issued TP-Link Archer BE805, Asus RT-BE92U and Asus ZenWiFi BT10.
2) EB810v from Starhub
3) SingTel issued HB810, but SingTel does not seem to do well in selling high priced plan with HB810 bundle, so the price does not seem to be good compared to the above mentioned options.

Thank you xiaofan. Is there any particular reason Starhub disables all other ports? Whereas my existing ONT terminal has all ports working. Any way to request the engineer/technician to enable the other ports?

I'll read up more on the links you've shared. Thank you for the hard work and updates on these threads.

ONT -- usually single port working
ONR -- all ports working

You must be using an ONR before (eg: SingTel or Whizcomms).

Not possible to ask Hubtrooper to enable the other ports.

In general ONT gives more flexibility and many users complained about the Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR used by Starhub before, so Starhub has decided to get rid of ONR option (even though still got some stock left for 3rd party partners).

My EB810v has the SPI firewall so i believe the HB710 router will also have the SPI firewall too. You connect the ONT to the router using a cat. 6 LAN cable then from the router you connect a cat 6 LAN cable from the router to the 10G switch. Then you connect your laptop or other devices to the switch via LAN cable.
