Here is an excerpt from the conversation:
Steven Chia, host:
Have you measured your own social KPI? In the sense that what kind of impact this will have on your personal and your family life as well?

Dr Ong Lue Ping, WP candidate for Tampines GRC:
You mean joining politics?

Steven:
Yeah, what do your wife say when you told her?

Lue Ping:
My wife is a very private person.

She's not very keen for me to join politics, especially opposition politics. Mainly because I think she's concerned about the public scrutiny on the family, especially the children, which I think are valid concerns, but eventually we agree to disagree.

She knows I feel very passionately about the well being of Singapore and Singaporeans, and that's something that I really wanted to do.

Steven:
You did say it was opposition politics that she was not keen for you to join. So if you had been joining the PAP, would she have been ...

Lue Ping:
I think it would be the same, as long as it's politics. You will put yourself out in public scrutiny. And having said that, even joining PAP may also put you in a lot of scrutiny as well. So I wouldn't say it's just opposition politics.

Steven:
Do you feel that there is a bit more of a challenge joining a different party besides the PAP?

Lue Ping:
Definitely it will be a different challenge in terms of resourcing. The Workers’ Party is really volunteer-driven. We don't have a lot of resources that the current ruling party has. So a lot of things you have to be hands on and so forth. So that's the part that's different. But otherwise it's really just (having a) different political philosophy as well. I don't think that's right or wrong. It's really which one you're more aligned to.

At the end of the day, I think to have a really balanced parliament, we really need to have diverse perspectives and views in the process of policymaking. Because if we don't do that, we will likely have blind spots.

People in other estates might not know, but do you know how proud we are of our tampines hub??

Can watch movie, basement all Aircon, 247 NTUC McDonald's enciktan, can run, swim, sing, read, gym all in a place. Holidays always have events. It's insanely useful. Everyday will have people there lepaking and studying. It's really the pride of tampines.

Let's be honest la: why do we need a minister of Muslim affairs? Now is 2025 liao, having a minister like that is racist against other religions. You got hear of minister of Hindu affairs? They more rare shouldn't they have more "protection"? Why single out Muslims as the privileged one?

because it's in the constitution.

Muslim religion
153. The Legislature shall by law make provision for regulating Muslim religious affairs and for constituting a Council to advise the President in matters relating to the Muslim religion.

so unless PAP dare to amend the constitution and risk the wrath of our neighbour upstairs and downstairs

As much as baey is a very open person, his estate is not very high quality one. Such a big neighborhood only have 1 mini NTUC, not the full big size 2 storey type. The Esso station, tjc area have very limited amenities like supermarkets, kopitiam, minimarts. The neighbourhood area really not vibrant at all. I wanted to bid the bto there also feel why this part of tampines too quiet.. So different from the tampines west and changkat one.
I am staying in Tamp North, Amenities wise not really that good la, but average bah... Most amenities is around 800+ or 200+

You stay which area?

I stay 800+.. the neighbourhood in tampines north is less vibrant than other areas.

That being said, I still like baey the most. He really quit his job to do this full-time and devoted his time to his residence. Go JB trip, have community fridge, only his estate have. The rest no sound one until elections coming.
yah i also stay at 800+ area nearer to tampines central CC side. not familiar with the new neighbourhood in the North. it used to be just a forested area when i lived there.

For Tampines North, Parktown Mall is supposed to be completed in 2028 with the permanent interchange connected via the basement. Tampines North MRT is slated to be completed in 2030.
