In the final days of hustings, WP candidate for Jalan Kayu SMC Andre Low has been keeping his focus firmly on the ground and tuning out the noise.
On April 30, Mr Low apologised for what he said were “completely inappropriate” remarks, after a series of his text messages containing vulgarities were leaked online.
He said the issue has not affected his focus on the campaign, adding: “Of course, I remain deeply sorry about the words I used. But we have to move on, and I believe I’m a more mature, better person today, and I hope residents of Jalan Kayu can see that.”
He said: “Residents have been coming up to me and saying: ‘Tune out the noise; we support you; what’s past is past.’ I’m very grateful for those kind words of encouragement.”
Mr Low said he intends to contest an election again, regardless of the results: “I definitely think, whatever the result come Saturday, I would be happy to do this again. I really want to fight for Singapore, and this has been a wonderful experience,” Mr Low said.
