The older folks really equate PAP to giving out money ....they are not discerning enough to see that the money is from our reserves. This alone explains the disproportionate support from them.

Old folks esp those lower income ones have probably not paid income tax for years if any. So to them govt reserves is someone else's money, and any handout is free money from the sky

Sengkang MPs-elect thank voters following improved showing

The WP team in Sengkang thanked voters during a victory parade to celebrate its win in GE2025.

The opposition party won 56.31 per cent of the vote against the PAP last night, up from 52.12 per cent in the 2020 election.

The team, which comprises Ms He Ting Ru, 41; Associate Professor Jamus Lim, 49; Mr Louis Chua, 37; and Mr Abdul Muhaimin, 36, waved to supporters from a truck and made a brief stop for photos at Rivervale Community Club this morning.

Sengkang resident Andrew Yap, 60, came out specially to meet them. The businessman said he usually rests at home on Sundays but decided to walk around the neighbourhood this morning, hoping to see them.

“They came in only five years ago but really made a difference... They are responsive to your needs. When the lift in my block was spoiled, they fixed it quickly. When any facilities are spoiled, they fix it quickly,” Mr Yap said.

WP’s Andre Low makes his rounds in Fernvale

At Jalan Kayu SMC, WP candidate Andre Low – who narrowly lost with 48.53 per cent of the vote – made his way around Fernvale this morning in a perambulating vehicle to thank residents.

Some patrons at a coffee shop waved to Mr Low as his vehicle drove past.

LOTO needs to be where he is now. If he is displaced within a short period, this itself is unhealthy for Singapore.

If he is being displaced, a lot of work is needed to be done to find out more about the new one which takes its place.

WP has not decided on NCMP appointments: Pritam Singh

When asked if there is an indication of whom the WP will field as its Non-Constituency MPs, WP chief Pritam Singh said: “No, not yet, we haven’t met as a party yet.”

Later, party chair Sylvia Lim mentioned again that the party “has yet to decide on this”, but said that this could be an opportunity for leadership renewal.

The WP will be offered two NCMP seats following its showing in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines GRC, which had the highest vote percentages among losers at the polls.

Political newcomer Andre Low lost to labour chief Ng Chee Meng with 48.53 per cent of the vote in Jalan Kayu SMC, while the WP team in Tampines garnered 47.37 per cent of the vote, losing in a four-cornered fight to the PAP. This means Mr Low and one member of the WP Tampines GRC team will be offered NCMP seats in Singapore’s 15th Parliament.
