Ask you all veterans here. HDB tiles (big squarish type) vs vinyl flooring, which is better?
FYI, a few of us having issues with tiles, tiles are still better if you can find a one with good workmanship.
do read a few page back from pages 2444

if i were to start again i choose vinyl. but i still prefer tiles

no wonder you want to hack all the tiles. now i understand

for now i just thinking to fix the tiles at the door there as i step on it everytime i walk to the other side

and in future since mine no problem at kitchen and entryway i just ignore and hacking will start with all the tiles in bedroom cum living room until the door to screed and do vinyl

AI say if it due to poor installation to fix the issues need to remove all the affected tiles (as in to fix the under lying issues), and since the affected tiles is all at this room, i just do this room as shown below

then tiles are really expensive to replace......
like my kitchen i was lucky... 3k+ , if market rates is 4k+
sg labour cost is super super expensive.

then u need to find place to stay or put ur stuff during the replacement.

Agreed. Those workmanship 30-40 years ago are better cause they will soak the tiles overnight for better absorption when laying on wet cement. These days all want fast games. Just lay the new tiles over the wet cement then knock knock a bit to align. That's why tiles easy to pop. It doesn't blend well.
Wet tiles will absorb the cement easily.
So next time if you're wanna do tiles, make a spot check mid reno and see if these masonry work applies this method. I learn this from a Malaysian tiler that takes job all over Sg. Wonder where he is now

i think do vinyl might be a better choice

i just hope mine can last, if it crack i do simple diy repair and if it pop (touch wood) i just hack living/bedroom and do waterproof cement screeding that it. something like this

no vinyl no tiles no pop no crack, no wear out

If you're going for this looks, at least add some nice rugs, potted plants or floor lamp. Make it cosy and chill
