Sony Xperia 1 VII

i will use until spoil.. change phone every few months really not fun

If really spoil, I will still buy mark V
This time the mark V will be use to watch videos

All other usage will move on

I wonder if Sony mobile department listens to user feedback , or Sony users keep praising the phone and they think it is ok to continue their current trajectory.

Sony Alpha camera dept has been rather responsive with feedbacks and complaints from ground users, grip too shallow ? deepen the grip, prefer the new a9iii handling? keep the design for A1mk2 , Imaging mobile software too sucky ? created another with bluetooth and wifi linkup, unfriendly camera interface ? revamped with nice color coded menus, sucky NP-FW50 batteries ? trickle down the high capacity battery in pro models down to basic models.

I had a fair share of complaint on their xm4 and xm5 earbuds too

For the xm4 wise, it all very good except the final months of ownership, their battery drain instantly after full recharge due to glitches in software update

For xm5 wise, I need to trade off between comfort to my ears and noise canceling

Both got the same problem which is ldac keep interrupt when using Xperia phones like very choppy

This is because ldac share the same wifi 2.4ghz frequency so if your ldac near public wifi then gg, disrupt very seriously

The product by itself is worthy of flagship offerings.

But the main problem is the influx of chinese phones which can have some similar or better functions while at a lower pricing. Just look at some poco offerings with the flagship hardware and their incredible low pricing, we are simply spoilt for choice.

Another issue for sony is the lack of mainstream users or some call it fans.
These groups will swear by their favourite brands and even defend it when hardwares or features got stripped off year by year, while you only find a tiny group of those for sony. It is a huge challenge to stand out when it is one of the numerous android brands and most of them just look like an icopy till recent years.

End of the day, it is actually a nice flagship phone but it does have many other competition for the same or lower price.

My understanding is they went through 3 round of loss of loyalty

First loss is Xperia Z5 to Xperia X
No more waterproof phone and reduce a lot of features

Second loss is Xperia XZ3 to Xperia 1
The boss at that time want to break away all the past and back to basic that Xperia should be in the first place

Third loss is Xperia 1V to Xperia 1VI
Change boss and change the design as well, want to please the reviewer and mainstream market but anger the actual long time Xperia users

From this video 2.56 minute the telephoto really have improvement. Sony really can zhng software till nice

AT 16 minutes can see the new vapour chamber does a lot better at heat control during 4k video test compared to 1vi!

HK set will have issues with 5G here.. I had mk3 and it faced that issue..

frankly i might consider sony, if the camera system was actually on par with say, the flagship of last years' , x100 ultra, 14 ultra etc.

and i dont seem to find any , good photography comparisons, taken with the best angle.


e.g 35mm, or 23mm, the photo taken after much deliberation and calibration for each android and iphone.

then theres one wide angle from an older xperia, from reddit, which was taken by one of the bros here, when i zoom in, i was shock to see the pixel was pretty bad.

not that iphone 14 i had in the past was any better, least the eco system had it going.

Interesting share, first time ive heard that LDAC uses 2.4ghz that will overlap..... guess my brain was just bluetooth vs wifi is different lol

Welp... as a apple fanboy, i agree until i was frustrated at the quality of photos that i took when i when back to hanoi, it was the last straw that i ever use iphone for photo-taking.

yes the raw is great and all, but the number of pixel and sensor size, pales in comparison to even a 2nd hand 14 ultra from xiaomi, dare i say even 13pro

Oddly, When i got my wifu the sharp, it somehow mimics Bravia tuning... unless my eye pak stamp
