A large percentage don't pay income tax in Singapore, like 40 - 50%.

Super low means you are saying for the 40-50% they are all earning not enough, or not working hard enough...

If you don't buy car, no need to pay car related taxes

If you don't smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, no need to pay related taxes

If you don't buy house, no need to pay related taxes

Buy ya, if your income is above average, you tend to consume the above items and hence pay more taxes
