Take note ONR bridging is not exactly the same as configuring the ONR as ONT. For ONT, only one port is working.

You may have to check with SingTel if they carry out official bridging for you. You may need to pay S$10 per month as this is a VAS.

For manual bridging by the user: as per the reports here.
1) ZTE F8648P ONR, the unbridged LAN ports no longer works.
2) Nokia XS-240X-A, the unbridged LAN ports still works.
OK boss Xiao fan please let me clarify whether the optical network router has multiple LAN ports and we are able to use each of the ports for Internet access?? thank you very much sir 🙏🏼

Yes, by default all the ports of the ONR will work if you do not bridge the ONR.

Okay thank you sir, then am I able to use the ONR inside DB cabinet at the front door, use LAN cable to connect ONR to network switch and then the cables will be running hidden inside the walls and I’m unable to upgrade the cable so is the old cable speed and will go to each and every room as well as the TV console and from there I will connect them to my additional devices, network switch as well as my WiFi mesh and secondary router is that possible?

Yes.

ONR is good for this use case, if you do not mind the lack of features of the ONR.

In general, many average users will be fine with the ONR, whereas power users will avoid ONR.

Many power users have left SingTel anyway.

That is perfect for me. I think I will renew my plan using them before the end of contract in June somewhere in the end of June because I just need the Internet connection and even one GBPS is enough anyway the cables in the wall are all the old cables of cat five or six so it’s not able to reach that kind of speed anyway

Cat 6 is able to reach 10gbps for short distances if I'm not wrong

If I remembered correctly the installed LAN cables hidden inside the walls is standard Cat5 LAN cable designed for speeds up to 100 Mbps at 100 MHz bandwidth. While it can support 1 Gbps speeds over shorter distances.

Hi guys is this common speedtest results after change the ethernet cable all using Cat6?

https://www.speedtest.net/result/17567306872

Not normal.

Make sure you use Ethernet (wired) connection and not wireless.
Make sure you use SpeedTest app, not using browser.

Typical 1Gbps download/upload speed should be >900Mbps, close to 940Mbps.

Bash:
root@ubuntu2204ct12:~/ookla# ./speedtest -s 13623

   Speedtest by Ookla

Server: Singtel - Singapore (id: 13623)

As mentioned earlier, please do not use browser.

You have to use the OOkla SpeedTest app.

If using the app and you still have such speed, check your Ethernet cables. Contact Singtel for help as well.

How do i check the cable? If i have swapped to other CAT 6 cable, reboot all the Singtel devices. And test having issues? And if i called Singtel and they said they have reboot on thier side? If the issue still occurs?

Just carry out the test and then call SingTel.

No point speculation now.

Hi, I have been using the old Singtel 500mbps recontract offer @ 29.90 (now 30.XX after GST increase) for almost 8 years now.
Anyone is/was in the same situation as me, and is able to somehow get a free upgrade to 1gbps by contacting Singtel or something?

I don't need much higher speed, don't wish to think about bi-annual recontract/jump ship else incurring the high 'usual price' when contract expire, and also don't want to think about ONR bridging. Just wish to keep using my current ONT + Router setup. :s8:

TIA 🙏
