i only gaming nia, so 9800X3D >9900X3D i think

PSU personally i go for above recommended gpu requirements~

but the NZXT H5 Flow cannot mount the 360mm top of case, i personally still prefer top AIO and case front fans

would suggest get those lego blocks fans to reudce wire management

Thanks! I'll check the measurements of the AIO cooler and my final case :)

Do you mean those fans that can daisy chain by sliding into each other?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D 4.4 GHz 12-Core Processor
As for why not 9800X3D, I feel that I wanted more cores :ROFLMAO:

Probably going to use my computer for games, some video editing (as a hobby) and programming/ coding. Would the 9800X3D be better for that? or should I go for the 9950X3D?
99x3d only has 6 cores with access to the 3d vcache, compared to 8 with the 98x3d and 9950x3d. this will lead to lower gaming performance, as u can see with the 7900x3d vs its counterparts. if ur ok with the tradeoff for higher multicore performance, then by all means.
Not sure if X870E is worth it since, according to this site, the difference is that USB 4.0 is mandatory
it could be worth it if u have thunderbolt devices that u want to use with ur pc. otherwise, honestly a b series mobo is generally enough if ur not going to plug in many high speed devices.
Not sure if 6400 + CL32 would be better, read that there isn't really much difference that can be felt
since ur going x3d, memory matters less. u also have to make sure that ur imc and mclk are running at the correct ratios, 6400mhz is right at the limit of what the imc can manage. u should be safer going 6000mhz, ur probably not going to notice much of a difference spending extra on that faster ram.
Video Card: MSI INSPIRE 3X OC GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB Video Card
  • Chose the cheapest 5080 that has price available
u can check around other stores, think pc themes has the shadow listed for cheaper.
Ah, I initially chose 850W based on the total draw on pcpartpicker + 10%, is 1000w a safer buffer?
850w should be sufficient for a 5080, msi and nvidia say so on their product pages.

Does that mean it's either 9800x3d (for gaming) or 9950x3d (for gaming, and other general stuff)? 9900x3d loses to the 9800x3d in gaming and also to the 9950x3d in general stuff.

I'll take a look at the B series motherboards!

Ah okay, didn't see their price list in the price list section, let me try to find it.

Thanks for your feedback :)

Edit: Where can I find those nice very aligned looking white cables that connect to the motherboard/ GPU? or what should I search for? :)

each cpu fulfils a different niche. the 99x3d is a downgrade vs the 98x3d for gaming performance, but offers good multicore improvements while not breaking the bank as much as the 9950x3d.
Have you tried any of the cables from TB?
some bros have reported voltage drops when using such cable extensions, though i have used a set from taobao on a pc i sold a couple of years back with no complaints.
well my current rig atm only mb cpu gpu ram & nvme isnt from taobao~
thats most of ur pc not from taobao :s22:

You will have to research on that exact GPU model, some ppl will write on their own findings. Otherwise, contact the GPU manufacturer and ask for the thermal pad size of that GPU Model

Just set up my new pc yesterday, is there anything I'm missing for AMD?

  1. Updated bios
  2. Updated mobo drivers
  3. Enabled EXPO
  4. Installed AMD Adrenaline
  5. Installed AMD Ryzen Master
  6. Installed GPU Drivers
Also, is it normal for idle temps to be in the 40-50 range?

For context:
  • 9950X3D + Arctic Liquid Cooler III 360
  • No bios settings changed except EXPO
  • Aircon in room not on
  • Hits ~95 on Cinebench (installed just to test if I assembled everything correctly)

ah yes the standard aftershock build. do not go with the gigabyte gaming especially for ur budget, but u will have to top up a fair bit for a decent board with them. the psu is also lackluster at this price point. anyway for 4k, u should be able to afford a very decked out 5080 pc (see 1st post), not just a 5070ti with very basic parts. this should only cost only half ur budget.
