Renewed my M1 1G to 6G fibre at almost the same/lower price after contract. With the pushing of >1G plan, really make lots of sense to just upgrade. The plan comes with a pretty good mid range Asus router which also support flashing to Merlin firmware. To me is a big plus just in case I changed my mind not to sell it, since I have never stayed with the default Asus firmware on all my Asus router purchase. Always find Merlin to be much more stable instead of chasing for highest speed.

Downside there is only 1x 10G WAN/LAN with a lower clocked CPU as compared to BE86 (though should suffice for most), but comes with 6Ghz. Nevertheless still a good choice for most home users. Will still choose this over the tp-link BE805. Will be auctioning off to fund my soon to arrive 4x 10G intel X710-T4 NIC for my pfsense to run >10G on load-balancing (M1 + MR)

Jump from green 1gbps to m1 6gbps.

internet load faster. TikTok jump up down instantly

Archer router be805 exceed my expectation. Was using Asus rog gt ax6000 and worried about archer as I have 10 devices + 20 iot devices connected at the same time.

be805 was able to handle the load with 10-15% cpu and 50% memory.

Now I just feel that I under utilised my 6gbps and maybe 3gbps is enough. Lol.

I second this. I have 50 devices in total and BE805 handle it much better than my AX72. And I also don’t fully utilise the 6Gbps. Actually for my family usage, 1Gbps is more than enough. But took the 6Gbps plan because of renewal discount and free BE805.

If i want to retain my land-line number, can sign up for a new plan at my new place, then cancel my old plan to switch my old number over?

Having some redundancy is good. Also can get full speed.

Existing landline on M1 too? If yes, best to check with M1 on how to proceed.
Usually, it's port in which is pretty straight forward, don't cancel existing landline, request to port then should be automatically handled by new ISP.

i recently sign up for m1 3gb as new customer, i wanted the 6gbs plan but was told it sonly for new BTOs?? i had to settled for 3gbs, folks here on 6gbs all are new btos??

A while ago, it is as what you mentioned.
M1 6Gbps new user offer --> either new home offer (S$34.90 per month with free Archer BE805) or switching to M1 offer (S$35.90 per month with free Archer BE805), must be done in M1 physical shop.

M1 has opened up new user offer again online, S$34.90 per month with free Archer BE805. But the website may be too busy sometimes -- so it is probably easier to sign up in store.
https://shop.m1.com.sg/fbb/plans-bundles/fbb-plan?plan=HOMEPAC_6GBPS_24

Existing users -- have to check within the app to see if got special offer at S$32.90 per month or not, if not then the price is at S$47.90 per month.

BTW, nothing wrong to go with 10Gbps plan either, if you need a mesh solution, at S$50.90 per month and two Asus ZenWiFi BT10.

https://shop.m1.com.sg/fbb/plans-bundles/fbb-plan?plan=HOMEPAC_10GBPS_24
https://shop.m1.com.sg/fbb/plans-bundles/fbb-plan?plan=HOMEPAC_6GBPS_24

Difference of the 10Gbps plan and 6Gbps plan, both with two ZenWiFi BT10, is at S$4 per month (S$50.90 per month vs S$46.90 per month, both new user offer). Bandwidth difference is probably about 2.5Gbps.

Take note that the 10Gbps plan is limited by the XGS-PON technology used -- max speed is at about 8.2Gbps, same for all local ISPs now.
