Imagine a shipment of these and the shipping container kena rogue wave or capsize. Can't even retrieve any cargo of value.

This at most will be use for packaging or something that is "use only once, throw away".

So pack these soluble plastic with insoluble plastic?

Huh dissolve in sea mean can't use for packing as it would degrade one contact with water or fluid ??

They r working on a suitable coating material... As of now abt 5cm in size thn it takes 200 hrs to b disintegrated when in contact wif salt

This material can last for only 1 day in sea water, if use to hold soup or salty food, it will disintegrate and left the food open to air within 1 day. So probably will be good to make disposible items like straws, fork, spoons, plates, cups and condoms

If it starts dissolving when in contact with water, chemicals used to make the plastic such as plasticizers will also start leaching into the water, along with the plastic itself. Since the material itself dissolves, I think more of such chemicals will leach into the water than normal plastics.

Also, being biodegradable in nature does not mean it is food safe. It is biodegradable by bacteria and not humans. If it is used for food it will just increase the microplastics in the body.
