Yes, I believe the RTS is a bad policy mistake by Singapore.

It benefits the retirees here but it will hurt the young and future generations.

pap need the boomers votes for next 5 years before all the jhk/jhb convert to new citizens

Touted as a Game Changer, the RTS Link is Reshaping Johor Bahru’s Property Sector & Sparking a Wave of Mega-Developments

PropertyGuru
17 March 2025

The Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link is more than just a transportation project—it is a catalyst and game changer for a brighter, more connected future.

Revolutionising Connectivity and Urban Dynamics

The RTS Link is more than a solution to the congested Johor-Singapore Causeway. Once operational, the transit line will slash travel times between the two cities to a mere 15 minutes, offering seamless cross-border connectivity for over 10,000 daily commuters. This unprecedented efficiency is expected to dramatically enhance the quality of life for residents and workers, encouraging migration and investment in Johor Bahru.

Tropicana taps global design giant SOM to lead Johor's Lido Waterfront masterplan

By Sharen Kaur
May 27, 2025 @ 5:45pm

KUALA LUMPUR: Tropicana Corporation Bhd has appointed renowned architecture and urban planning firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) to lead the masterplan for the 163-acre Lido Waterfront Boulevard (LIDO) in Johor Bahru.

This strategic partnership marks a major milestone for the development, which is set to transform LIDO into a world-class, future-ready coastal metropolis and smart city in the southern region of Malaysia. The masterplan will integrate seven key components—residential, commercial, wellness, education, hospitality, recreational, and lifestyle—into a unified, sustainable waterfront destination.

GG singapore retail once the rail system starts.
Can see the variety of recreational activities are so much more...
from sports to those restuarants with singers ... etc etc. till the wee hours of the night

and singapore govt really got problem.
1) keep designing outdoors sports facilities that are unsheltered ...
when it's all day summer .. and make it unplayable during hot afternoons.

2) MRT operating hours only till 12midnight? SHould extend to 1am ...this will encourage more nightlife activities that are non-clubbing.

yeah i love the pickleball scene there ... it's lively and vibrant.

not to mention after hitting pickleball or golf, can have a great supper outing with friends.

it offers a lot more than shopping, eating and massage.

probably it's because the rental there is not high and allows people to experiment and innovate, as well as pivot very quickly.

as a keen sports person, i can see myself going to JB often for pickleball. apparently KL pickleball clubs are top-notch and it's a huge community too.

Spore's problem is that with our ever-increasing population, booking sports facilities is really hard. have to ballot, log in at the right time to snatch for slots ... it's really stressful.

and fernvale has a badminton village but the charges are like $36/hour for weekend. go calculate and you will figure going JB is more worth it. you pay half the price there and the court has super huge running space. the pickleball courts there are pretty incredible in running space and the set-up is super professional.
