Will TP-Link BE800 works on Singtel?

TP-Link Archer BE800?

Yes, it will work.
1) As AP -- no Double NAT, many non-wireless FW features of the Archer BE800 will not functional. If you only care about wireless, this is the way to go.
2) As router -- with Double NAT, if you care about some FW features of Archer BE800.

Basically power users avoid Singtel ONR since their own powerful router will kind of not able to be function to its full capability.

More about Double NAT.

All in all, Archer BE800 willl work, but kind of wasted to use with Singtel ONR. It probably makes more sense to get cheaper Archer BE805 or HB710, unless you do like the 2.5G LAN ports of the Archer BE800.

Hey, thanks @xiaofan

What if I managed to bridge the ONR?

How funny. Singtel called, suggesting two options, either they correct the router to WIFi 6, or, they add a $10.90 fee to my monthly bill.

As if I going to keep their poor WiFi 7 router that can't even output the plan I signed up for.
Singtel contacted me today. They didn’t want to honour the mistakes. The conversation is at manager level. And insist that I return the WiFi 7 router or I pay a 15% discount from the $10.90 month fee.

It’s a no-brainer decision. I’m returning it and purchasing TP-Link Archer BE800, so that I can fully utilise what I signed up for.

This shows something is wrong with Singtel as a company, a small router also can’t honour, can’t even admit their mistakes. :s13:

hi guys my parents recently got the singtel 10 gbps enhanced plan with the hb810 router and the nokia ONR. Due to my pc not having wifi i had a old netgear extender connecting to my pc but the extender had issues connecting to the new hb810 so i decided to buy a hb611 to replace my extender.

But i started to have ping spike like every 3-5 mins. I cant connect the two mesh via wire as my pc is all the way at a corner. Could this lag spike be caused by the ONR not being in bridge mode?

Any help is appreciated thanks

What is the media converter used? What is the 10G SFP+ network adapter used? Looks like there is a probelm in the chain.

If you are testing under Windows, make sure you use the OOkla SpeedTest app from Windows Store, or the CLI version. DO NOT use browser. And you may also need to turn of 3rd party security programs which may slow down the speedtest results very significantly.

Singtel usually over-provisioned a bit and you may get slightly higher than 5Gbps download speed for 5Gbps plan.

Here is the speed I get from an Intel N100 CPU based Mini PC (with built-in Intel 10G SFP+ NIC) connected to Singtel ONR 10G port, with an SFP+ to RJ45 adapter, download >5.6Gbps and upload > 4.9Gbps.

The speed has been very consistent for me, since the installation in August 2024.

Code:
root@OpenWrt:~/ookla# ./speedtest -s 13623

Singtel typical Fibre Internet speed is listed here.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/typical-download-speeds

Typical local and international download speeds

The following is based on more than 200 measured readings for each Fibre Broadband plan across peak and off-peak hours. It is validated from January to March 2025.

Peak hours are generally from 7pm - 1am, while off-peak hours are generally from 1am - 7pm.

Fibre Broadband PlanTypical Local Download Speed for Wired Connection*Typical Local Upload Speed for Wired Connection*Typical International Download Speed for Wired Connection*
1Gbps & Unlimited Fibre Plan924.53 - 926.97Mbps921.00 - 922.12Mbps617.38 - 700.30Mbps
2Gbps Fibre Plan*1700.35 - 1851.77Mbps1533.69 - 1864.14Mbps1360.12 - 1731.71Mbps
3Gbps Fibre Plan2559.79 - 2777.08Mbps2409.64 - 2792.69Mbps1336.20 - 2269.58Mbps
5Gbps Fibre Plan4345.92 - 4667.54Mbps4493.45 - 4652.56Mbps3103.76 - 3992.76Mbps
10Gbps Fibre Plan7493.65 - 7998.20Mbps7273.67 - 7608.03Mbps3659.93 - 4177.19Mbps

*The typical download speed range is computed to reflect that, at least 90% of the time, a user should experience the lower bound speed or higher.
^Download speeds for 2Gbps Fibre Plan reflects an aggregated speed of 2 speedtest readings done simultaneously on 2 client devices.

Thanks for this. will move my opnsense box out and test it on the sfp port instead of running a long cable to test. was just thinking not to upgrade anything else on the 10G internal network till i know it can actually run at that internet speed. once good then will link up the LAN to the 5Gig internet.

Bro, they standard copy-paste reply.

I sent the link to them, they say it got redirected to Singtel main page :s13::s22: And told me no such offer, and on their end they only sees blah blah blah promos.

They act blur live longer.
Agreed, feels like the recontract offers and process has been getting worse over the years. I used to get good deals simply going to IT fairs and chatting up the sales staff to recon on the spot. The last time (2 years ago) when I went down, they actually told me cannot do recon at IT show anymore, and now with limited promos etc, I wonder if they are even bothering with retention.

I wonder if anyone has experience with asking to terminate and receiving a better offer in return?

Like most people here, I also stay with Singtel as my parents are using Singtel TV.

In a turn of events, Singtel now honour their mistakes and told me to keep the WiFi 7 router.

Faith in humanity in Singtel is still alive I guess?

But I am purchasing the TP-Link Archer BE800 tomorrow! :s13:

Don’t bother going into retention department. After Singtel changed management, they don’t operate as before already.

Even their technician told my Sis that terminate and sign-up gets better deal. But this means you don’t bother your home line number.

Last time I’m tied with Singtel TV, but I switched to Singtel CAST for those Chinese channels for my parents. The Singtel CAST app on Apple TV was intuitive for them. Most importantly, it’s cheaper and doesn’t require STP subscription fee. It’s 21st century, who still pays for a STP to watch shows, god have mercy please.

Hi there I would like to check is it possible to sign up as a new customer in singtel. Currently I was given the offer of HB410 +3gbs with a 24 month contract of 30 dollar in starhub. The most important thing is that the home line must retain. Can singtel provide a better offer than this.

You may want to check out the sticky thread on top of the forum section. I believe the answer to your question is NO.

Yes with some limitations due to the ONR.

1) If you use Archer BE805 in router mode, you are in the situation of Double NAT, your HB611-SGST WAN port must be connected to the Archer BE805 to use Ethernet Backhaul.

2) If you use Archer BE805 in AP mode, you have no Double NAT, your HB611-SGST WAN port can be connected to the Archer BE805, or the ONR 1G LAN port, in order to use Ethernet Backhaul.

Hi all, I have similar intention to signup Singtel 5Gbps plan, but with setup: ONR -> BE550 Pro (main router, cat6 lan to Apple TV in living room + lan ports in rooms) -> hb611 as WiFi satellite.

I’m hoping that the normal ST ONR config doesn’t cause issues after ST technician is done, and that I only need to setup the BE550 pro in AP mode?

I assume this means all 3 equipment (ONR + BE550 + HB611) is broadcasting the ONR WiFi?

Not an expert in networking :)

ONR has no WiFi function. It will be the main router of your home network.

The main node Archer BE550 Pro needs to be set up in AP mode. The mesh is then called TP-Link EasyMesh in AP (bridge) mode.
