'Dangerous on a whole new level'—while Steam's policy change is new, the shadow of credit card meddling has been looming for a while, with Nier: Automata's Yoko Taro sounding the alarm last year

Steam removing adult games shows "you can even censor another country’s free speech," claims Nier creator Yoko Taro

Someone else can don't like your game for whichever reason, then they escalate to payment processor corporations, before Valve delists the game.
So they eventually cut off the entire market for your game, even though they are not within the same jurisdiction as you are.

Not a good idea to assume these group of people never existed or you might end up wasting time to make one that those group of people do not like.

Found the list of all the games removed from Steam in an Excel spreadsheet.
I saw a few non-adult games being removed, that used anime style.

itch.io will likely lose a huge number of players that enjoy indie adult games.

I think the situation is not just wokism in games that's killing the gaming industry.
it's also because of increased cost.

I mean paying $150 for a "premium edition" video game where there's no physical collector's item is a massive annoyance. Everything is just free armor or weapons or whatever nonsense.

I remember I still have the FO3 collector's edition and it came with the lunchbox and the pipboy. I kept the pipboy and displayed for so many years. until only recently after I moved house and I lost it. Or maybe my family members threw it away on purpose without my knowing.
Recent video games going at U$80 is just ridiculous.
I honestly cannot see why games needs to be so expensive.

The top 3 FPS games are all free games.
The 10 Action games, only Wukong is priced at S$50 and Elden Ring at $79, Witcher 3 at $50+ and these are all highly-acclaimed games. There's literally no new action games in the top 10.

So I honestly think it's more money related, because there are so many F2P games that are in the top rated category. And these are full F2P games, not some nonsense where they lock gameplay or characters behind microtransactions or subscriptions.

I don't like this, even if it looks like a win.

At least in the case of Microsoft. To be honest, most of the news I've seen of new consoles and new games puts me off modern gaming. and by modern i mean what had been launched in the last 6 months and what's expected to come in the future.
Switch 2 cantridges no longer holds game data, just game keys, you still need to download the game online, which means there's most likely gonna be DRM or similar stuff, and I know this isn't something new, and had been around with PS and Xbox games, but I don't play those consoles since those games always end up on PC and will end up cheaper due to steam sales, and I'm only interested in Nintendo games cause their games don't appear on other platforms.

Other than that, Xbox is also trying to push for more Game Pass subscribers, which means you can't play without an internet. Even if it can be cheaper if you are just playing certain games. But i prefer to own my own games still, I just don't want to pay $80 to own it.
