I bought the AppleCare together. It’s $20 cheaper over 2 years.

Automatically “converts” my AirPods Pro into “genuine” if anything happens. I just go back to Apple Store.

It's $59 for 2 years. So I was like fine. Plus, to play it safe, getting an AppleCare immediately gets me support from Apple Store even if I bought on Shopee.

I also never really bother to wait for 59 days before i get AC+, afraid I will damage or it being faulty by then lol.

I usually walk in apple store to get AC+ with EPP discount when i am free upon receiving APP, since the store is walking distance from my office.

I believe the first-year limited warranty mainly covers basic issues like hardware manufacturing defects, while AC+ goes beyond this by offering enhanced coverage, including accidental damage, etc.

Mac/iPhones have been receiving AC+ extension prompts in the device settings if applicable as shared by others.
But no one shared about Airpods extensions yet though, so can't be certain.

If you are talking about the initial purchase, it's available on your device too.
Can head to "Apple Support" app/settings to purchase, or like what you do, head to Apple Store to get it done.
For the Shopee order, it can be added together with purchase when carting out. Otherwise, have to purchase separately liao.

Dunno about accidental damage. I changed my app1 2x in the first year complaining got knocking sound. Both times got replaced with new ones. Since then all ok.

Can buy when u pair it with your phone. Actually it is better that way. I have heard from a colleague that she bought AC+ together with purchase on apple flagship and the AC+ isn't tagged to her name etc. I didn't follow up on her case but I rather buy AC+ myself at apple store/within phone.

I believe your "knocking" sound is a manufacturing defect and apple are offering free replacements for sets that are manufactured during that time frame regardless you have AC+ or not. I replaced mine back then (I had AC+), my friend whom didn't have AC+ also got her APP1 replaced for free.

No black and white but has past expriences.
As long as bought from somewhere else and never purchase AC+ and recorded, Apple has the rights to reject the 1st year limited warranty.
