That’s the router which is the same model that they will be giving me too.

how abt the fibre modem? Is it nokia or huawei?

Most of the Starhub users should get Nokia XS-240X-A XGS-PON ONT for 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plans.

MR users are reported to get Nokia XS-250X-A, XS-240X-A or XS-140X-A XGS-PON ONT.

Starhub/MR no longer use Huawei brand for XGS-PON ONT, only Nokia brand.

SingTel is using ZTE F8648P or Nokia XS-240X-A XGS-PON ONR. Same for Whizcomms. Take note Nokia XS-240X-A can be configured as ONT or ONR.

VQ is using FibreHome or Huawei brand ONT. VQ also has an offer of Huawei brand SFP+ ONU for power users at S$99 extra.

SIMBA is using Huawei brand ONT.

All in all the brands of the ONT/ONR do not really matter to the end users, rather it matters whether it is an ONT or ONR. Power users will avoid ONR.

Actually this Nokia XS-240X-A XGS-PON ONR is usually use as ONT and there are better Nokia ONT that can provide full 10Gbps speed or near 9000+ Mbps instead of the present up to 8200 Mbps only.

Who tell you this info about 9000+ Mbps?

All the current consumer 10Gbps plans offered in Singapore are based on XGS-PON technology and this will limit the speed to be about 8.3Gbps.

The real world performance of the so-called 10G rated XGS-PON technology is only about 8.3Gbps, so there is no such thing as a better Nokia XGS-PON ONT.

Other countries and regions use the new 25G PON or 50G PON technology to deliver true 10Gbps plan (≥ 9000 Mbps) and 25Gbps/50Gbps plans. But 25Gbps/50Gbps plans are niche plans and expensive now.

I expect Singapore ISPs to offer such plans (true 10Gbps and 25Gbps plans or even 50Gbps plans) based on 50G PON technology before 2030.

Try the default passwods mentioned in the TP-Link FAQ (GUI password printed on the bottom, or other passwords mentioned). If that does not work, then you have to carry out factory and set it up again.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-10gbps-plans.7024290/page-331#post-157357790
Take note you may have to reset the router if the installer changed the password and yet forgot to tell you, or you changed the password during the installation process but later forget.

TP-Link Singapore FAQ

How do I find the device login password for TP-Link ISP-customized Modem Router?

TP-Link ISP-customized (operator-customized) modems/routers are pre-configured with settings specific to your Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) network. There is no universal default password, as credentials are typically set or managed by your ISP.

Use these methods to locate or reset your password:

1. Check the ISP documentation.

Refer to the manual, setup guide, or support website provided by your ISP. Credentials are often listed there.

2. Inspect the device label.

Check the bottom label of the device for any printed login password.

3. Try the following common default passwords as per your region & provider:

Country
ISP/Model
Common Default Passwords
Australia
All
admin
ACT
act@123
AGL
support180
Amaysim
admin1/admin1
Australia Post Broadband
apbroadband$
Mate

otn230
New Zealand
password1
ax3000
Singapore
HB serials
GUI password printed on the bottom
StarHub (Except HB710)
StarHub@1234
Starhub@1234
starhub@1234
StarHub@123
wireless password printed on the bottom
Other
admin1234!
tplink1234
tplink123
admin1234
Qawsed1234
Admin@1234

4. Contact your ISP.

Your ISP’s customer support can confirm or reset the login credentials, as they provision the device.

5. Reset to factory defaults to create a new password.

Warning: Resetting erases all settings and may cause the device to lose internet connectivity.

i received an sms from singtel ytd saying there is a 3gbps plan for only $29.90/mth and is with their wifi 7 router. did anyone receive this too? sign up is by 30 sep. might be a good deal at this pricing sia
this the link included in the sms: www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/ga-edm/3gbps-plans

Nice one. Thanks for the update.

This is a very good offer for SingTel:
S$29.90 per month for 3Gbps plus one HB611-SGST unit.

The other SingTel recontract offer is S$39.90 per month for 3Gbps plus two HB611-SGST units.

******
Edit to add: I did not notice that this is posted in the wrong thread. I thought it was posted in the SingTel thread.

I will still suggest new users to go for the Starhub 3Gbps offer at S$29.50 per month with free HB410 and not the above SingTel offer.

Existing Starhub users may want to check with Starhub to get a much better 10Gbps recontract offer at S$30.49 per month with free HB710, that beats all the offers out there from any ISPs.

Thanks for sharing. Seems like a good deal. Dont know if anyone can sign up or targeted?

SingTel always say targeted for this kind of "hidden link offer". But you can always click and they will either accept or reject, nothing to lose on your side.

For existing SingTel users, take note you will usually need to be eligible for recontract first before clicking. If not they will usually reject.

They will have to upgrade their backend devices OLT again? Singapore willing to spend money to upgrade again?

Asked AI whether it is easy to upgrade Nokia OLT and to my surprise i got this answer:

Upgrading a Nokia OLT from XGS-PON to 25G PON is designed to be a relatively easy and non-disruptive process that does not require replacing the optical cables.

Why upgrading Nokia OLTs is easy
Nokia has developed its network platforms with a seamless upgrade path in mind, leveraging its Quillion chipset to facilitate upgrades across multiple generations of Passive Optical Network (PON) technology.

  • Multi-PON line cards: For OLTs like the
    Lightspan FX
    and
    7360 ISAM FX
, operators can use a Multi-PON line card (e.g., FWLT-C) that supports GPON, XGS-PON, and 25G PON simultaneously.
  • Simple hardware swap: The upgrade can often be performed by simply swapping out the existing XGS-PON optical modules with new 25G PON-capable optics on the same line card.
  • Software activation: The new 25G PON functionality can be activated with a software update on the existing platform, making the deployment process fast and cost-effective.
  • Seamless coexistence: Nokia's solutions support coexistence, allowing different PON technologies to run on the same shared fiber infrastructure. An operator can, for example, have customers on GPON, XGS-PON, and 25G PON all on the same fiber from the same OLT.
  • Optical cable requirements
You do not need to change the optical cable when upgrading from XGS-PON to 25G PON.

  • Uses existing infrastructure: 25G PON is designed to operate on the same Optical Distribution Network (ODN), which includes all the fiber optic cables and passive components like splitters.
  • New wavelengths: The different PON technologies use different optical wavelengths, so they don't interfere with each other on the same fiber. 25G PON has a specific wavelength plan to enable this coexistence.
  • Customer-side equipment: The only physical change required at the customer end is the replacement of the XGS-PON Optical Network Terminal (ONT) or Optical Network Unit (ONU) with a new 25G PON-capable device.
  • This modular and coexistence-enabled approach is a significant benefit for network operators, as it allows them to increase capacity and introduce new high-speed services without performing a costly and labor-intensive network overhaul.

Why not when the technology is mature at that time? Take note I mention 2030. The technology should have already been quite mature at that time since there are already 25G PON and 50G PON trial run now.
