Soft shoes like Hoka, On, and Skechers might feel amazing at first… but they could be the reason your feet ache by the end of the day. In this video, I explain why overly cushioned shoes can actually cause foot pain, and what types of shoes give you the right support instead.

Ergonomic shoes should be

1. Level - toe and heel on the same height.
2. Wide in front for the toes to move.
3. Cushion should be thin so the sole can feel the ground and has better sensitivity.
Wider front half actually … these days shoes “standard” sizing all getting narrower, people like myself not actually bunions but wider front half of the foot, cannot wear … must seek out shoes from US with W at the back.

But if one is standing for long hours like 12 hrs for a security officer then cushion thick is better

Yes I found out the hard way... I have high arch and had foot pain thought that having a shoe with thicker mid sole with a cushiony bouncy foam would help... in the end the podiatrist told me that these shoes did not provide enough support to keep my foot from wobbling in the shoe. Basically we need stronger more structured shoes to provide sufficient support to the feet, not thick bouncy mid soles that destabilize our walking gait and our feet strain to compensate to keep us steady when walking...

Actually no... the shoe with the best support, which means having a custom insole which fits your foot shape and the pain will go away... having the thickest bounciest or softest mid soles won't do anything for tired feet which under great strain trying to keep your body balanced without any help from the shoes...

For standing compare

if wear a pair of slippers and your feet will 'feel' the ground. Means like standing on hard ground

with a pair of thick soles your feet will not 'feel' the ground

assuming both legs have the same degree of tiredness

But wearing shoe like safety boots which is hard with slight cuhion for a long period of time make the feet sole so sore at the end of the day & felt relieved once you take it off your feet.

Because there is a difference between running shoes and walking shoes.
