A former Manchester United midfielder who won 39 caps for his country says he was forced to withdraw from an England squad after Sir Alex Ferguson intervened.

He had no problem with the competitive side of things, but the Scot would become particularly annoyed at the inclusion of friendly games in the football calendar.

Former United striker Wayne Rooney recently spoke about the rule Ferguson would try and enforce while his players represented their respective countries.

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, he revealed that Ferguson would even speak to the England manager and tell them that his players should play no more than 45 minutes.

"I always remember Sir Alex Ferguson before we'd go in for some of the games, I'm sure he'd speak to the England manager as well," Rooney began.

"He'd be like: 'Right, you, no more than 45 minutes. Make sure you come off after 45 minutes or you only play 45 minutes.'

"So, I'd get to England and I'd be like: 'Boss, I want to play 90 minutes. I want to play the full game, don't take me off,' because I used to love playing."

He added: "Some players were different and some players were protecting themselves with injuries as well, especially in the friendly games. But I used to love going."

As well as Rooney, former United midfielder and academy product Nicky Butt has also spoken about Ferguson's thoughts on international football.

Butt, who spent more than two decades at United, where he made 387 appearances and scored 26 goals, revealed that he was asked to withdraw from an England squad by Ferguson.

"He never once said to me to fake an injury," Butt said at the Soccerex Global Convention. "He'd just say 'You've got an England friendly coming up and you're not going.' And that was that."

He added: "At one stage there was nine of us and he would pull one or two of us out and let the other six go."

Senior figures at Manchester United have held talks with some players to gauge the mood over Ruben Amorim and the current state of affairs - with the overriding feeling being that they remain behind him.

His long-term future in Manchester continues to be a talking point, especially with the coach so wedded to his philosophy, which has failed to result in an upturn in form. ESPN reports that CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox have spoken to members of the squad - including captain Bruno Fernandes as well as the leadership group - and they believe support still exists for Amorim.

Mason Mount has said that the dressing room is "100% behind the gaffer" despite the early struggles. Defender Matthijs de Ligt also publicly backed Amorim following the 3-1 defeat at Brentford less than a fortnight ago.

Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney is among those to lavish praise on Benjamin Sesko following an impressive start to his career at Old Trafford. The Slovenian sensation scored twice in two matches, helping Ruben Amorim's squad enter the international break on a high note.

However, early indications suggest that Sesko is a hit, earning accolades from figures across the region, including United legend Wayne Rooney.

The former striker believes that the Slovenian not only poses a threat in attack but also enhances the performance of those around him.

"I think he's a handful, and he uses his body well," said the former England captain.

"He challenges for balls, and it makes it easier for Mbeumo, Cunha when he's on, or Mount to make runs in behind him. So I think that's clearly something they've worked on.

"Sesko has been good at winning headers in the air, and Mbeumo running in behind him. So I actually thought Manchester United got the tactics right."

It's not only ex-United stars singing his praises - current players are also gushing about his progress following a tricky start to life in England.

Leeds United's Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol praised Sesko for battling through the 'brutal' nature of English football and the Premier League, telling local media Ekipa: "I'm very happy that he found his way. Because the people in England are quite ruthless. And I'm very happy for him that this pressure has at least fallen off his shoulders a little.

Benjamin Sesko has scored two goals in the last two games.

Both goals came from close range, underlining his natural poacher’s instincts inside the box.

United fans will be desperate to see him carry that ruthlessness into the cauldron of Anfield.

If he does, Sesko would become the first United striker since Wayne Rooney in 2016 to score away at Liverpool.

You have to rewind even further to 2012 to find another forward on the scoresheet in this fixture.

Back then, Robin van Persie coolly converted a penalty in a 2-1 victory.

Sesko has already offered glimpses of his exciting talent.

He has fought tirelessly with defenders, showcasing strength and resilience in his hold-up play.

The Red Devils have also leaned on his towering frame, using him as a classic target man.

Scoring against Liverpool will be a major boost to the Slovenian’s confidence.

A win on October 19 could take the Red Devils just two points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table.

A win for Man Utd at Anfield will be very crucial because this may change the title race by stopping Liverpool from winning the title this season. Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea will definitely want Man Utd to win.

Next match vs pool how to win? At anfield some more
This season Liverpool defending & scoring has declined compared to last season. There are signs Man Utd showed slight improvement in the win against Sunderland. The players must be motivated to win & play to their strengths & their team mates strengths. Cross the ball more to Sesko & pass him the ball.

Trabzonspor have reportedly told Andre Onana that they will do everything they can to sign the Man United loanee permanently after his strong start with the club.

The 29-year-old was shipped out of Ruben Amorim’s side following the arrival of Senne Lammens’ from Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

Onana has since impressed during his time in Turkey, keeping one clean sheet, conceding five goals, and even providing an assist in his four games for the club.

According to a report from the Sun, the Turkish side have already informed Onana of their intention to sign him permanently next summer.

Trabzonspor’s loan deal doesn’t include an option or obligation to buy the Cameroon international, however, so they will have to negotiate a fee with parent club Man United.

the definition of good.. is very subjective....

if it is an established player. chances of leaving his current club will not be high.
