Singapore Red Cross introduces HoME+, an upgraded home-monitoring system using 3D motion detection for seniors living alone, addressing concerns about falls.

The improved infrared technology accurately detects the senior's location, triggering alerts for prolonged inactivity, while maintaining privacy and reducing false alarms.

Seniors can trigger alarms via panic buttons, supported by 160 trained volunteers; subsidised rates are available based on CHAS card status and HDB flat size.

Due to too many cases of elderlies dying at home alone undetected. Red cross came up with tis system Liao.

“But we cannot break into the flats, and will need help from the police or SCDF (Singapore Civil Defence Force) when we ascertain that the seniors there are distressed,” Mr Phuang said.

But if they got an alert n went there. Maybe needs to bring a locksmith or scdf breaks down d door.

Idea is good but the cost will be very high and very wasteful
Elderly might not live long enough to warrant the cost and the installed equipment wasted
This is also assuming the elderly can react fast enough to press the panic button

I would prefer the govt setting up an elderly zone where the hdb and facilities are designed for elderly and safety features built in, cctv everywhere to monitor and emergency team on standby.

Ur questions r all valid. Maybe needs to trial n error irl then see can how to further improve tis idea.

The sensor like will after a interval sends a notification to Central system to notify. If they dun detect movement iirc.
