A sinkie with msian spouse on SG work permit

Life hack:
Msian spouse owns a msia car and drives it into sg daily for work. Sinkie is passenger. (SG customs will allow since sinkie is not driving msia car into SG)

In msia, the sinkie can freely drive the car.

They can pump cheap Ron92 legally.

They can own a cheap property in Msia for own stay

The sinkie can be sole ownership of a SG property like condo or 2nd hand hdb, and rent it out. In the future, sell it for profit.

Got properties on both sides. SG property can be flipped for $$. Cheap JB property for stay. Can own cheap Msia car and use cheap fuel which can be allowed to be used in SG (bypassing the rule that sinkie cannot drive msian car into sinkie and bypass COE/tax)

In before "I already know this long ago" or "common knowledge/TS wols"

Any kinks in this plan?

🤷‍♂️ Insurance is one kink in the plan.
It's basically how sg cars will handle insurance if they met with an accident with a msian car, but most Malaysian car insurance policies do cover driving in Singapore, but car owner need to check that his policy includes cross-border coverage, which will include
- Third-party liability in Singapore
- Accident coverage for both driver and passengers
- Medical expenses and vehicle damage

If there is a law that prevents this, I would like to hear it. Maybe it's something I missed

You are not allowed to keep or use a foreign-registered vehicle in Singapore if you are a:

  • Singapore citizen
  • Singapore Permanent Resident (PR)
  • Resident of Singapore
  • Long-Term Visit Pass or Dependant's Pass holder
  • Student's Pass holder
  • Training Employment Pass or Work Holiday Pass holder
  • Work Pass holder who is also a resident of Singapore
