Hey @xiaofan and everyone! Is the following offer good, normal or bad?

M1
Bespoke SIM-Only (Business)
$14.95 for first six months, ~$22.48 thereafter

200GB (150GB + 50GB)
1000 Mins, 1000 SMS
Free Incoming Calls
Unlimited Calls to 3 M1 Numbers
Free 6 months Caller Number Display, $5.45 thereafter
Free 6 months True 5G, $2.08 thereafter
Free 12 months Unlimited Weekend Data (20GB per day, thereafter speed limited to 1Mbps)
Free Roaming Subscription
Block International Incoming Calls and SMS
No Contract
I wouldn't subscribe for this as there's no Roaming included. Get a MVNO which automatically provide you with easy & light Roaming charges.

Just wondering why go such an offer which still changes Caller ID after 6 months in 2025?

But I am not familiar with business plan. So no idea it is good or bad compared to other business plans.
Hey there, yes I find the Caller ID charge on a business plan quite perplexing too. I spoke to a CSA and his suggestion was to renew it 6 months later. Apart from this sore point, is this offer fair in your eyes?

Hey there, so "Free Roaming Subscription" is not enough, it has to be baked in?

Thanks again for bearing with this greenhorn.

No idea of the benefits of a business plan.

If compared to the other offers, I think this is still a poor offer with only 6 months of free 5G.

If you can renew contract every six months, then may be okay if you don't mind such a hassle.

But I would not consider this plan at all myself.

  1. What do you look for?
  2. In the list you've so graciously compiled, which plan and operator would you go with?
Thanks as always and hope you have a splendid weekend ah.

I am probably biased with my own choice.

I only go with Singtel SIM Only now. Not considering any MVNO now since I am okay with Singtel S$15.28 per month SIM Only plan (two lines at home now). Just in case no more good offers from Singtel SIM Only, Singtel Gomo or Starhub Giga/Eight will be my backup choice.

I do not consider M1 since I always go with Singtel/Starhub for my telecom services and so far so good with this arrangement.

Edit to add: many users here also look at the roaming data bundle and destinations offered for roaming.

Free Roaming subscription doesn't mean you are free to Roam easily eg JB. It probably means you will need to pay a package to Roam in MY; what about other countries, how much do you have to pay for these others.

Other Telcos are offering as an example free 3GB Roaming for many countries within their Plans - no confusion what one is offered.

Checkout other Telcos & be familiar with their offers, then you can compare with M1's.

Added: see SIMBA as an example; Caller ID for most Telcos come with their Plans at no extra cost.

That might be the wrong questions to ask.
How about what is important to you ?

Ok, maybe to guide you along :
1) Do you need/want 5G ?
2) How important is roaming for you ?
2a) Which countries are you likely to need roaming for ?
2b) How much roaming data do you need
2c) Do you need to voice service during roaming ? For incoming calls ? Call SG ? Call local numbers ?
2d) Do you need to send SMS when roaming ?
3) How much local data/call/sms do you need ?
4) Do you need wifi calling/VoWifi ?
5) Do you need esim ?
6) Do you have preference for billing cycles ? (30Days, calendar month, day of month)
7) Are you price sensitive ?

A good answer to question 2 alone might eliminate a large number of potential options.

Another crucial point to take into consideration is the coverage & performance for areas that you frequent, bearing in mind the use case for each line. Of particular concern will be places like basement, carparks, deep inside big malls, outlying areas like the mandai catchment, islands etc. This is where the placement of base station/repeater & the performance of the low bands like 700 & 900 MHz comes into play.

It is very specific to each person and how one uses the line. Eg :
For home mobile broadband, the only thing that matters is the performance & consistency at your home, & your data usage can be met by the plan.
If you frequent a location that has very poor reception for all but one provider, your decision is already made for you, all is left is which MVNO to pick or perhaps the MNO itself.
If you are often at remote location, Singtel & its MVNO are likely to be more suitable, but it can still depends, more than once I have seen Singtel trashed by Simba or M1 at specific location.

Care to share why you prefer Singtel S$15.28 plan ?
I had hard time understanding why quite a few seems to pick that.

Compare to Zym/Z1/Vivifi $15 plans the only advantage appears to be 1) VoWifi 2) 5G SA now.
In return one has to be in a 12 month contract, and roaming included just 50GB to MY.
Did I miss anything ?

And the option to get devices anytime with ST.
If no need, MVNO is a good option.

I tend to think many users are okay with Singtel S$15.28 per month plan here.

1) It meets all my requirement in terms of 5G, coverage, speed, etc.
2) I am okay with the price.
3) I can pay one bill for all the Singtel based services (two SIM Only plans + Singtel Fibre). *
4) I do not really care about roaming.

* I chose to go with Tuas Power since I can still pay the bill through Singapore Power.

Haha, my answer may be quite different from others.
1) Yes, Singtel 4G coverage is not good. I tend to belive it is the same for M1. Not so sure about Starhub. So 5G is important.

2) I do not care about roaming.

3) 100GB is more than enough. If not carrying out SpeedTest, 50GB is more than enough.

4) I do not care about VoWiFi.

5) I do not care about eSIM.

6) Most of the people will be price sensitive to a certain extent. I am comfortable with the S$15.28 per month Singtel SIM Only plan now. Previous I was comfortable with the S$20.37 per month Singtel SIM Only plan. I general, I do not go for the higher cost stuff but I also do not buy very cheap ones (unless for testing).

I tend to like mid-range stuff in general (maybe a bit towards the lower side, not the upper side).

That explains it, there are offerings from Singtel MVNO that gives you more for the same price, but given what you care about, those extras doesn't matter anyway.

I do make it a point to avoid having the mobile line and Fibre lines from the same operator to avoid single point of failure, but that is not a concern for everyone.

Singtel fibre is arguably the most stable consumer Fibre Internet plan and it has not failed me since 2014.

There are two major incidents for SingTel Fibre in 2016 and 2013. The 2016 incident did not affect me.

https://www.straitstimes.com/singap...4-hour-fibre-broadband-disruption-in-dec-2016

That being said, I do not recommend Singtel Fibre to new users for various reasons (using ONR, routing problems to quite some locations, etc). I tend to recommend M1 and StarHub Fibre Internet.

For those who rely on Home Fibre Internet for mission critical tasks, I will tend to recommend dual ISPs. But many people will be fine with a 5G mobile backup though.

More about Singapore ISP comparisons here -- I keep the comparisons and offers updated in the sticky thread,

Besides unscheduled outage there is also scheduled maintenance from both the provider & netlink trust.
Within the last year alone, I already had 3 scheduled maintenance that affected me, 2 from netlink trust.

And when it is an issue with netlink trust, dual ISP would not help, since all fibre internet depends on that.
Hence I would not recommended dual fibre ISP for this reason, mobile backup is probably a better choice, provided there is a well performing mobile service at the location.

:unsure:not sure if this is a deciding factor and does it occur for 5G network not, but for 4G, when there is downtime for singtel mvnos, main singtel network doesnt seems to be affected.

personally experience this myself 2 years back, a family member is using vivifi, and when there is a downtime for vivifi, my $15.28 plan doesnt seems to be down...

 for $15, i feel this plan doesnt seems worth it.

as per xiaofan bro's post, m1 max 5G or eight's 5G plan seems to be a better option though...

Possibly, but I wonder if it could be due to the $15.28 plan is on 5G SA while vivifi is on 5G NSA which is using 4G core ? But at that time should still have 3G to fall back on.......

i finally stick to Singtel because

1. Customer support that actually exist
2. I don’t care about roaming at all
3. I think the 700MHz is working for me when I had to be in ulu places.

The 700 MHz certainly can be useful, but you can get it on Singtel MVNO as well.
While I wasn't impressed by the quality of the customer support, it certainly beats not having it at all.

For me I do keep 1 sim on Singtel MVNO 5G plans for the coverage, but not having VoWifi is quite a problem.
I can get VoWifi on the $15.28 plan, but that would be the only reason, and losing the roaming benefits that I do use, having to tie down to a 12month contract, and adding the initial month cost makes that quite hard to justify.

Given that Telco plans in Singapore are so cheap and without tie-down if one select sim-only plans. Just go with the plan that suits at that moment and port out when it doesn't suit anymore. It is really not that complex.
