My config was initially stable for a few months. Didn’t update the firmware but then the child node random reboot… had scheduled reboot on master node and recycle the power(to reboot usng smart plug scheduler- seems asus still did not reboot the child node from the apps scheduler..) on child node like once a week and it didn’t help 😅. In your case, using wired backhaul seems much more stable at least.
Your is on wireless so much more erratic bah. Yes, need reboot manually for child node.
Wired for sure more stable, even with line of sight when I used wireless backhaul still face instability too which i decided to lay my own cable and have it wired instead.

Hi I just signed up for a 10gbps plan, wish i discovered these forum threads before i did my AP planning  but been reading alot of xiaofan's content! Can i get some advice on my hardware configuration for my home? I'm considering putting a Asus RT BE-92U in my DB running off my ONT as my main router and potentially another on wireless backhaul in my master bedroom, do you think it'll be sufficient or do you recommend i need another node somewhere in between. TIA!

Eh, from what I read your deployment is not line of sight for your routers so likely will have stability issues.
Suggest going for WIRED backhaul instead.

And sharing your floorplan will help advise since layout plays a significant part in your network stability and positioning.

Your living room might not have stability since it's in your ONT and a distance away from what I see.
And your unit in the MBR, at most cover your MBR & 2 toilets.

Probably need to test it out and monitor before deciding if a third unit in your living room is required to enhance the connectivity stability.

Thanks for this, i figured as much actually!

Do you think a RT-BE88U in my DB box with my ONT with wired backhaul to another RT BE-92U where my sofa is might be a better config?

otherwise i might consider a running two RT BE-92U's, one in my master bedroom, one closer to the kitchen and the RT-BE88U in the DB Box or do you think that might be overkill 😅 thank you again!

Any thoughts on the TUF-BE6500?

Yes, if you are generally in the living room most of the time.

If budget not an issue, having 3 units should provide bettter connectivity than 2, since 1 will cover MBR, 1 covers the living room, while the ONT your kitchen and study room.

TUF-BE6500 looks good, since it supports 2.5Gbps. Don't have it so can't comment on the performance but should be fine since it's with 1GB RAM too.

be92u is effectively a 2.5g router though or a 10g mesh router. if u can live without the 6ghz channel u can get the be88u (1 10 wan 1 10 lan) from taobao and use that as the main and the 92u as the node. im holding off 10g plans until i upgrade my pc to support 10g or usb4 (long time coming).....

Thanks for this! I think in the essense of time i'll get the BE88U Locally and probably just one more BE92U to start! had them come over for setup today and i think it should suffice!

Anyways, please DYDD too still ah.
I may not fully comprehend since I do not have all your info and basing off only what you shared.
Please make sure you research and plan it out as per your needs!

Will do thank you very much!

Amazon Eero 7 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 router: "Black Friday" special price of S$149.99 all-in delivered from Amazon.sg. S$10 off coupon available if you use a UnionPay or HSBC card to pay for it, and there may be a ShopBack rebate as well. (The 3-pack pricing offer is now out of stock. You could order the 3-pack from Amazon U.S. using EzShip or another forwarder, and you'd save a little money that way if you need 3. For 1 or 2 units it's currently less expensive to order from Amazon.sg.)

Amazon promises security updates for at least 5 years after last retail sale. Currently that means security updates will be available through at least December 31, 2030, although that date is extremely likely to be extended since Amazon will presumably sell the Eero 7 into 2026 and even beyond.

1 wall becomes 8 to 16 mbps

If you have a solid wall and your placement of Archer BE230 is not optimum, that is possible.

2.4GHz band is very congested in Singapore. IMHO it should not really be used by main devices like laptop, mobile phone and tablets, rather it should be only for legacy and IoT devices.

Basically your floor plan may not be suitable for single router, especially for the lowest end dual band routers like Archer BE230.

You may want to post your floor plan to see if it is possible to optimize the placement of the Archer BE230 to have better coverage. Please indicate the location of the ONT/ONR and the Archer BE230, as well as room LAN ports if any.

The Eero Official Store on Shopee is selling the dual-band Eero 7 for similar "Black Friday" prices including 2-pack and 3-pack options. With Shopee coupons the pricing might be better than what Amazon.sg offers. (The 2-pack pricing is particularly good.) Also check Carousell. There's a 3 year warranty at least when buying from Amazon or some other official Eero sales channel.

Interestingly Eight Home Internet now offers discounted bundle of Amazon eero 7, eero 7 Pro and eero 7 Max.

Is this eero mesh router good?

Simple firmware features but can be usable due to longer security updates.

I would not buy it due to the lack of FW features but average users may be okay with it.

eero Max 7 Dongknows review -- it is a bad one when at the high initial price. At the price of S$238, it becomes pretty good for a 10G capable triband WiFi 7 router.
