Plan to use 3gbps, both option is feasible.

You have quite some choices.

Using Ethernet Backhaul is the preferred option as RT-AX86U Pro is only dual band.

You can choose the following if you focus on 3Gbps plan:
RT-BE86U, single 10G port and quad 2.5G ports, dual band (no 6GHz band), BE6800 , higher end CPU
RT-BE92U, single 10G port and quad 2.5G ports, triband, BE9700 , lower end CPU

If you want to be future proof for 5Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps plan:
RT-BE88U --> dual band (no 6GHz band) BE7200, higher end CPU, one 10G RJ45 port, one 10G SFP+ port, quad 2.5G ports, quad 1G ports
ROG GT-BE98 --> high end, quad band, BE25000, higher end CPU, dual 10G RJ45 ports, quad 2.5G ports. one 1G port. TOP of the line model.

Thank you for the detailed suggestions! I looking more on bandwidth and signal interference as i will run smart home and many devices at home. I’m using 1gbps now but its can still satisfy for my daily usage on heavy torrent and media streaming, hence i think 3gbps is sufficient for next few years usage. Thus i think the BE92U with tribands should be the right choice at the moment.

try to manually dl the firmware and flash it manually and see if the blinking light issue is gone?

New TP-Link BE600 release
10gbps wan
2.5gbps lan ports
TRI band

For 200 usd

Seems ok deal no?

https://www.tomsguide.com/computing/routers/tp-link-archer-be9700-review

No.

With TP-Link Archer BE805 (dual 10G ports, quad 1G ports, triband BE19000, flagship MediaTek Filogic 880 chipset) at about S$300 BNIB from Carousell (dumped by M1 users), all the mid-range TP-Link Archer Series become kind of no point to buy (Archer BE550 to Archer BE700 and anything in between).

On the low end side, TP-Link Archer BE230 (dual 2.5G ports, dual band BE3600) is available at about S$80 to S$90 BNIB from Carousell, it becomes no point to buy many other low end WiFi routers, especially old WiFi 6 models.

There is also TP-Link HB710 at S$192 from Starhub (and similar price from Carousell) with dual 10G ports and triband BE18000.

Thanks for summarizing what's available and should definitely be considered.

Of course can't compete with routers being sold on carousel. But at retail pricing it's one of the cheaper ways to 10gbps speeds (assuming can be maximized with multiple 2.5gbps wired connections one has).

Asus BE86U vs BT10

Which is a better choice for a typical bto 4 room? Just basic network and wifi needed, plan to have 2 units using wired backhaul. No need for NAS.

Cudy WiFi 7 routers, including triband WiFi 7 routers with 6GHz band

https://www.cudy.com/en-apac/collec...er.p.m.custom.filters_wi_fi_standards=Wi-Fi+7

Chipset used: Qualcomm IPQ5322, Broadcom BCM6766 and BCM6764.
https://www.cudy.com/en-apac/blogs/news/introducing-cudy-wi-fi-7

BCM6766 seems to be a beefed-up version of BCM6755, BCM6764 is a cut-down version of BCM6755.

BTW, Cudy TR3000 is a relatively popular OpenWRT compatible WiFi 6 travel router (AX3000 rated).

It is interesting that not many international version WiFi 7 routers adopt MediaTek Filogic 880, 860 and 850 chipset. There are a few Chinese dual band Wi-Fi 7 routers based on Filogic 860 (eg: TP-Link.China TL-7DR7230 and TL-7DR7260, Ruijie BE72 Pro).

Filogic 880:
TP-Link Archer BE805,
Banana Pi BPI R4 with optional WiFi 7 module

Filogic 860:
? Asus RT-BE14000 and Asus ZenWiFi BT8 (not selling in Singapore)

Filogic 850:
Banana Pi BPI R4 Lite with optional WiFi 7 module (new)

How to choose between M1 router bundle?

1. General comparison
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...ussion-part-2.5658375/page-850#post-157208848

Basically M1 is cutting corners in the Asus WiFi 7 router bundling now, due to the higher price of Asus offerings compared to TP-Link offerings.

Take note M1 used to bundle low end AX3000 grade WiFi 6 router for 1Gbps plan (RT-AX55 and RT-AX3000P). But they do offer high end ROG GT-AX6000 (free with 2Gbps plan and decent PWP price for 500Mbps/1Gbps users).

I tend to like Asus rotuer but I do not quite like RT-BE58U (single 2.5G port) for 3Gbps plan and RT-BE92U (single 10G port) for 6Gbps plan.

It is a toss up between RT-BE58U (single 2.5G ports, better FW features) vs TP-Link Archer BE230 (dual 2.5G ports, acceptable FW features), both are lowest end dual band WiFi 7 router, but at least TP-Link Archer BE230 has dual 2.5G ports. BE3600 grade dual band WiFi 7 router (no 6GHz band) is like AX3000 grade WiFi 6 router, with minor improvements on wireless performance.

I like TP-Link Archer BE805 (dual 10G ports, quad 1G ports, better wireless spec of BE19000, faster CPU, acceptable FW features) better than Asus RT-BE92U (singel 10G port, quad 2.5G ports, slower CPU, lower wireless spec of BE9700, better FW features) myself. I know many people may not agree with me here. And indeed if you do not have 10Gbe/5Gbe wired device, RT-BE92U is an okay choice for M1 6Gbps plan.

I bought one Archer BE805 from one M1 user here at S$300 and I think it is very much worth the money. Of course Asus RT-BE92U is also not a bad buy at around S$300.

To be honest, I also do not like Asus ZenWiFi BT10 due to the slow CPU (similarly I do not like Asus ZenWiFi XT8 last time) but it is a good mesh solution. So I will still recommned it for M1 6Gbps/10Gbps plan if you need a mesh solution.

2. Asus RT-BE92U vs TP-Link Archer BE805? Or top-up for Asus ZenWiFi BT10?

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...ussion-part-2.5658375/page-850#post-157209480

Read a few post above this post (4 post above) and draw your own conclusion.

Also read the post in previous page.

This question has been asked many many times.

In the end it comes down to the following questions in sequence.

1) Do you need a mesh? If yes, then better to top up for Asus ZenWiFi BT10. Or if you have existing Asus router and want to use AImesh, then you can also consider RT-BE92U.

Asus AImesh is better than TP-Link EasyMesh (Archer BE805 supports EasyMesh).

2) Do you prefer Asus because of the better FW features? If yes, then go with Asus RT-BE92U.

3) If not, go with Archer BE805. It is supposed to be a higher end router (listed price >S$600) than RT-BE92U (listed price at S$399). Archer BE805 has better CPU, better wireless spec and dual 10G ports.

Other side questions:
4) Do you have 10Gbe or 5Gbe wired device? Archer BE805 is better as it has dual 10G ports.
5) I believe TP-Link Archer BE805 has better wireless coverage than Asus RT-BE92U.
6) If you do not have 10Gbe/5Gbe wired devices but multiple 2.5Gbe wired device, then RT-BE92U is better as it has quad 2.5Gbe LAN ports.

3. Asus RT-BE58U vs TP-Link Archer BE230?
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...ussion-part-2.5658375/page-851#post-157213316

I will say it is a toss up between RT-BE58U (single 2.5G ports, better FW features) vs TP-Link Archer BE230 (dual 2.5G ports, acceptable FW features).

Both are lowest end dual band WiFi 7 router, but at least TP-Link Archer BE230 has dual 2.5G ports. BE3600 grade dual band WiFi 7 router (no 6GHz band) is like AX3000 grade WiFi 6 router, with minor improvements on wireless performance.

If you have good WiFi 6 routers like Asus ROG GT-AX6000 or Asus TUF-AX6000, you can skip the two and use the existing one.

I will suggest to go with better routers. Both are not good. But that is just my personal opinion.

But if you really want to between the two, in the end it comes down to the following questions in sequence.

1) Do you need a mesh (with Ethernet Backhaul)? If yes, go with RT-BE58U. Then use an existing Asus AImesh node to form a mesh. Or get a new node.

Asus AImesh is better than TP-Link EasyMesh (Archer BE230 supports EasyMesh).

If you need to use wireless backhaul, even RT-BE58U is not a good choice.

2) Do you prefer Asus because of the better FW features? If yes, then go with Asus RT-BE58U.

3) Do you have 2.5Gbe wired device? TP-Link Archer BE230 is better as it has dual 2.5Gbe ports.

Dingknows Dual Band WiFi 7 mesh recommendation, only for Ethernet Backhaul, not good for wireless backhaul.

Asus RT-BE58U and Asus ZenWiFi BD4 may be usable as well.

Hi all,

2. Asus RT-BE92U vs TP-Link Archer BE805? Or top-up for Asus ZenWiFi BT10?

I'm evaluating these options as well. I just recently signed a 10Gbps plan with WC; hence on ONR. Which of the options is good in AP mode (i.e. justifiable pricing for non-router features)?

My planned setup is that the 10Gbps from ONR is wired to my home office port and connected to either of this router so that I can use wired connection to 2 devices (one 2.5Gbe [still looking into upgrade options to 10Gbe], another 1Gbe). In such scenario I think I need a device with more than 2 ports (at least 2.5Gbps). Also I have a spare EX510 connected on 1Gbps port from the ONR in living room (WiFi signal can reach home office; so maybe home office can simply use a switch or non-wifi AP?). Do you have any recommendations for this setup?
