All old ELCB to be replaced with new RCB/RCCB

Wrong. Read the news posted in post #7. HDB wants hdb units built before 1985 without elcb to install rccb. Before 1985 hdb units were provided with only fuses to protect against overload.All old ELCB to be replaced with new RCB/RCCB

Rccb is safer method of detecting electricity leakage. Elcb detect leakage into the earth wire only. However electricity can leak from human body onto floor or appliances without earth wire. As long as your unit electrical distribution board box has functioning elcb do not need to change even if 40 years old.
