iMessage activation WILL NOT be waived. All telcos will charge as "global sms" is being sent. This is Apple user problem, it is geniune SMS being sent by user's Apple phone if they want to use iMessage.

Anyway, it's just 60 cents for global SMS. Do not harp too much on that, it's only 60 cents not $6.
I know this is a ZYM thread but I don't see any issue with Eight? Tried both and did not expect this from ZYM

Got me thinking… can advise whether the below scenarios are considered international call/sms that will be charged?

1) incoming overseas call while i’m in sg
2) sms from apple/google/wechat/alipay (eg verification code) while i’m in sg
3) i had a sms from +256 710 951 314 which is lazada logistics (LEX) to notify my order will be delivered on some day. I looked up +256 country code and it’s uganda?? Lol… this kind how ah?

Asking cuz i had been opening and blocking my kids’ lines for int’l sms (sometimes need activate imessage/facetime), but have never blocked my own line’s call or sms. Just thought of doing so but not sure if blocking sms will hinder anything like the above senders.

I have no reason to be receiving int’l calls so that one should be straightforward can block. But sms… i’m not sure.

Ans : Singapore is generally free of charge on most mobile plans.
2) sms from apple/google/wechat/alipay (eg verification code) while i’m in sg
iMessage verification code will definitely be charged.
Google no charge
Wechat/ailpay not using, so not sure on this.

Jail for man who misappropriated over $2.5m in company assets while he was COO of SGX-listed firm

A man who was the chief operating officer (COO) of MDR, a firm listed on the main board of the Singapore Exchange, misappropriated over $2.5 million in company assets, including mobile devices.

Court documents stated that these assets were meant for MDR’s promotional activities.

However, Richard Siua Cheng Foo, 54, sold them through a third-party dealer, offering the latter a cut of every sale. Siua also used a portion of his ill-gotten gains to fund his gambling habit.

On Jan 6, he was sentenced to five years and six months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to one count of criminal breach of trust involving 625 mobile devices worth nearly $980,000 in total.

Four other charges relating to the remaining amount were considered during his sentencing. He has not made any restitution to MDR.

At the time of the offences, Siua was also the chief executive and director of several of MDR’s subsidiaries – 3 Mobile Telecom, Handphoneshop and A-Mobile.

These subsidiaries were collectively referred to as “the group” in court documents, and a search with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority revealed that he no longer holds these positions with them.

From Zym website about us:

ZYM mobile (MVNO), by m-DR Ltd.

In 2021, mDR extended its partnership to launch its first MVNO, ZYM Mobile.

"The department then discovered a sharp spike in the group’s marketing expenditure for 2021 compared with previous years."
