France ‘satisfied’ with death of ‘bloodthirsty’ Khamenei: Govt spokesperson
France can only “be satisfied” with the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by Israel, with help from the US, government spokeswoman Maud Bregeon said on Sunday.
“Khamenei was a bloodthirsty dictator who oppressed his people, degraded women, young people and minorities, and was recently responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians in his country and in the region,” Ms Bregeon told French broadcaster RTL.
“We can, therefore, only be satisfied with his demise,” she added.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Sunday that he hopes there will be a “new era” for the entire Middle East, including Iran, following the ongoing confrontation with Tehran.
“This is a historic effort to change the trajectory in the Middle East to a different future, a future of peace,” Mr Herzog said while inspecting a site in Tel Aviv where an Iranian missile had struck the previous day.
“We shall overcome and hopefully bring a new era to the Middle East and Iran.”

Staff of the US embassy in Jordanian capital Amman on Sunday were urged to avoid the embassy compound, due to a risk that it could come under attack.
“The US Embassy in Jordan has instructed all Mission personnel to continue to shelter-in-place and avoid the US Embassy Amman compound, as it may be targeted,” the embassy said in a statement.
Separately, the US embassy in Manama has urged citizens on the same day to steer clear of hotels in the Bahraini capital, warning they could become potential targets after the Crowne Plaza was hit during Iranian strikes.
