Himedia 300A does not have the manual X and Y size adjustment. This is necessary for some movies that does have the correct aspect ratio and for those who wants to fill up the LCD screen. ACRyan and XStreamer have the screen fit and manual X-Y size adjustment.

Since all these players are based on the same chip, it is not difficult for HiMedia to implement it. Hope to have this functions in the next firmware release.

AC Ryan's PPS access is also VIP. No different with Himedia 300A.

And guess its official - PPS will be on AC Ryan latest official FW release

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2426147

Considering I can get a cheaper 3.5" HDD than a more expensive 2.5" type i go for AC Ryan --- also because Himedia went OOS too long :s27:

I'm happy since I collected HD300A last wk, and Michael has been providing very good support :)

seems like from today AC Ryan has launched to fight back the competition, in addition to announcing the PPS support... since both are essentially the same hardware chipset, software features wise, it should be not be difficult for both products to match features from each other..

http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/news/view.php?id=15293&cid=5

On top of the above enhanced features, the Playon!HD retains the popularity of:

* File management is relatively simple as well as it supports file delete and file copy directly into its box.
* 2 years warranty as compared to the benchmark of 1 year in the market.
* It comes bundled with 2metre AC Ryan HDMI Cable, together with other necessary cables for video and audio output; and ready plug-ins for media storage like—External USB harddisks, two USB ports, Mediacard reader slots for SD/ SDHC/MS/ MSPro and Network.
* Stylish exterior ringed by blue lights that glow with each functional navigation. An understated piece of accessory for your sleek TV set. Skinz your Playon! for just S$19.90.
* Music lovers can look forward to the support of latest Dolby Digital Plus as well as the regular DTS and Dolby Digital pass-through. For use without amplifiers, the smart Playon! HD recognises and plays DTS and DTS-HD MA downmix.

the warranty looks interesting, although I'm not demanding Michael to match the 2yrs as well, but would be a bonus if such a warranty is extended to us :D

afterall, we got this cheaper compared to AC Ryan :)

Normally need to pay to be a PPS VIP member. But in the player, it's free. Latest shows/movies are marked with VIP thus u need to have VIP access in order to view it.
