yah, CEC Singapore officially "close-shop" liao.

application to Canada Unis, you can do so directly from the Uni websites.
study permit application, go to CIC http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

Im going to create a blog/website solely on Canada Education and Migration for my Singapore brothers! I know many are desperate for an alternative route out of Sin-ka-pore.

stay tune..

Anyone from Singapore after A Levels or Polytechnic Diploma interested/applying for tertiary education in Canada?

Apparently Canada education is cheaper than US, also have lower cost of living. (Now dunno still true cause Canadian dollar sometimes higher than US Dollar)
Canada have quite a few reputable Unis also, standard not bad comparable to US Unis...

McGill University
Location: Montreal, Quebec
GOOD: Law, Medicine, Business, Economics

University of Alberta
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
GOOD: Engineering, Pharmacy, Life Sciences

University of British Columbia
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
GOOD: Sauder Business School (Undergrad, MBA)

University of Toronto
Location: Toronto, Ontario
GOOD: Engineering, Rotman Business School

University of Western Ontario
Location: London, Ontario
GOOD: Richard Ivey School of Business

York University
Location: Toronto, Ontario
GOOD: Schulich School of Business (Undergrad, MBA)

University of Waterloo
Location: Waterloo, Ontario
GOOD: Maths, Computer Science (Undergrad, Masters), Actuarial science

Anyone currently studying or looking to study in Canada care to share/comment?
Thanks!

i can't advise much, but while doing my research for canada unis, i think it's pretty expensive if u are looking at mcgill and stuffs.. have u thought of a budget to set aside?

poly seeking transfer, canadian uni do not offer as much exemption like OZ uni. u can go to a GO8 and start in middle of 2yr yr. study 1.5rs and be done. or others just 1 yr and be done. if U plan on changing major and need to start fresh, Canadian Uni are cheaper than OZ.

Biz degree McGill University tuition has gone up considerably.
Econ its still cheap at Mcgill, UWO, York, McMaster. however u're still looking at CND$16K a yr (maybe lower for mcmasters) + living for around 3yrs! thats not really cheap considering in OZ U can finish it 1.5yrs. Canada like OZ U can work off campus but still U are limited to part time 20hr week during term. of course its not uncommon to find ppl risking it to work more than that. even with that it will not sufficient to cover both tuition and living expenses

if u are looking for need aid, look south at USA.
I have met ppl doing CC at http://www.cae.edu.sg/?page_id=66
and went on to those Liberal Arts College getting $$ base on need.
eg Grinnell , Harvey Mudd College etc

alternatively U should look at the Sweden/Finland Thread.
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2402078

Sweden is no longer free, Finland is, but U gotta take SAT and perhaps TOEFL too. Aalto University School of Economics or better known as Helsinki School of Economics is one of the few Uni there that has “triple-crown” accreditation

if u thinking of working 2yrs then go overseas should options here fail U.
then I believe Finland wouldn't be free at that time.
Today ist free and U'll be paying around sgd$40k for the entire program. if U do work during holidays there u maybe able to cut the cost down to sgd$30k or less.

2yrs of work here how much can u save? have u work out the math?
tuition fee + cost of living is always on the raise, due to inflation etc
3yrs in Canada then may cost well ~cnd$100k
oz 2 yrs at go8 then may cost ~aud$100k too

should US Econ improves studying at LAC. U maybe able to get 80-90% aid. that would mean u need to come up with US$50-80k. unless u really lucky u may get 100% aid, still U need to pay for living.

if u don't mind Utah can try BYU cost ~US$20k a yr for fees and living, don't think U'll spend US$11-12k of living expenses thats kinda high at Utah. issue is need SAT and should U do well still have scholarship avail. if U wanna change religion fees things become cheaper @us$16k.

http://saas.byu.edu/ebrochure/BYU_F...Step_1__Count_the_Cost/Cost_of_Attendance.php

last pt, OZ program are generally 3 yrs esp Biz/Econ with honors as optional yr.
in US/Canada its a 4yr program kinda like a direct honors however system wise isn't the same.

certainly! the admission req often times are higher for Poly students. 3.3 and U see yourself at UofMelb with 1 yr adv standing.. 3.3 and U wouldn't even make it to UBC-Sauder. on top of that they force ppl to do full 4 yrs not 3+1yr like Oz (for most programs). UK also not getting popular these days, U find all those UK edu fairs getting cancel left and right.

OZ gives lots of adv standing, not so with Canada. Thats the same deal with USA.

distance is another factor, OZ closer to home.

IDP does helps, staff are friendly and do hold your hands along the way.
those CEC staff... sign.. laoya.. expect U to be independent! thats why they close shop after a decade or so of operation. They just don't know how to work in favour of ppl mind.
