2 common modules
guys ar, i was pondering, since i retook my modules and gotten my grades. I understand that for resit, the grades' GPA will be divided by half(if u have inputs, pls share)? Or they did not penalise me?
Example, one of my module, i resit, i got C+. This GPA was already divided by 2?
Sorry if i sound confusing cos im confused myself.
We regret to inform you that we are unable to register you for MTD307 and MTD309 as the quota for both courses are full now.
Apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Please follow the CCA procedure by filling up the form for MTD307 and MTD309 and email the scanned copy to me. I will forward it to Student Records so that your name can be put in the waiting list.
Please do so before the 6th of July as stated by Student Records.
Many thanks.
Who here is surprised? Hah.Can u check and see in the "Academic profile" in the portal, they will list out each grade, as well as the cumulative one.
Exam score are not supposed to be read out to student, right anot? I smell something serious here. Lawmee87, please kindly provide the name of that "someone". Can anyone confirm if it true enough the exam score could be read out to student, then next time we can go to this "someone" to get our marks.![]()
erm i checked... no different from my results slip. Anyone knows how to calculate cumulative GPA?

If your results slip states that your re-sit module = C+, I believe this GPV hasn't been halved. The results slip only show the grades you receive for that semester, while the CGPA is the updated information you want.
I believe GPA is calculated like this :
[(Exam Grade GPV x Credit Units) + (Re-sit Grade GPV x Credit Units)] / (Sum of Credit Units)
Given this formula, I would say you received :
[(0 x 5) + (2.5 x 5)] / (5 + 5) = [0 + 12.5] / (10) = 1.25
So your C+ ultimately became ≈ D.
For the calculation of all the grades to become CGPA, I believe the calculation is repeated for every grade and then divided by the total CU that you've done.
[(Grade GPV x Credit Units) + (Grade GPV x Credit Units) + ... ] / (Total Credit Units)
Here's the example given in the Student Handbook, section 9.2.5 (page 43) :

Disclaimer : I could be totally wrong here, but this is how I understand it. Cheers.

*warning: wall of text!*
Oh yeah, this thing happened to moi gf, who is the first batch of students who took BaCL (chinese language).
FYI, their ucores is totally different from the rest (ie, not the usual 3+3+effective coms for us old timers, nor the new 2.5x4 ones)
The BaCL students have ucores at 5 cu each, which is almost like a normal modules already.
So what happened is that in the first semester, she tried to apply for 4 modules + 1 ucore. The system rejected that application (and everyone elses) on the basis that u can only take 20 CU, the ucore was COUNTED in. So didnt take ucore at all, just 4 modules.
The lecturers insist that it was to be counted in, and she couldnt take, so nvm, let it be, in the 2nd sem she didnt do so well, so she wanted to take 3main modules + 1 ucore. So in the eCr, based on previous exp, she would write "20 CU" right???
So she chose 3 main, 1 cu, and 2 main backups(cos the system is like that, must choose backup)
Then when she get the course offer letter, unisim give her 4 main + 1 ucore!
Obviously something wrong rite? So she called the student helpdesk, and this totally unfriendly woman told her that UCORE is NOT counted in the CU, and that if she read the handbook she SHD know... So she argued thats not the case in the first sem, when the ucore WAS counted in, and the woman told her only the first sem is exception. Like WTF? that part WAS not in the handbook, and NOBODY told the students that, and expect them to know??
So my gf demanded that they change the course offer letter to reflect the 3 + 1 that she wanted , and the woman impatiently told her to go and pay $53.50 to get it changed(ie remove 1 module!!!), cos she "cant do anything abt it", even when my gf argued its not her fault and demanded to speak to her supervisor. @$@%
piece of **** system siah![]()
for once u say that "someone" told u, another time u say u heard it. So now, which is which.
Fyi, if i am not wrong, all their phone calls are recorded.![]()
