i just cameback from sapporo and tokyo
the $169 uniqlo now is selling cheaper in japan liao
i wonder if our local uniqlo got sale?
I went to Uniqlo yesterday, no sales so far.
I had more time on hand to try out the winter clothings yesterday, and my my... i'm glad I tried out the various options. Here're some reviews:
Esprit
- Tried out an outer shell jacket (retailing about $249), layered with scarf, a fleece jacket and my own polo tee. Walked around the shop for about 10 mins... It was kind of disappointing to say that I don't feel warm.. nor even heated up at all.
Uniqlo
- Went to the store, and I tried out the Down coat (SPED) retailing for $249.90.

This, I give thumbs up. Wearing just this alone over my polo, I started to feel warm in under 5mins. I suppose this will work even better when I add in layers.
One thing that my fren commented on this jacket, is that the internal down pockets are quite small (compared to the $169.90 down jacket's), which is a good design. This ensures that the down will not deteriorate over time. (e.g all the down starts to accumulate to the bottom of the jacket)
- Went on to try out the Down jacket retailing for $169.90.

Having started out with the higher end one, this one dulls in comparison in terms of thermal protection. I think it takes a longer time to heat up with this coat, but it will still do it's job with several other layers.
- Lastly, I tried out the Premium Down Ultralight jacket (which I initially had wanted to get it so much due to budget constraint). But... it feels so thin. Thermal protection value-wise, IMO $99.90 doesn't seem to justify at all.
Conclusion... I'm quite satisfied with the Down coat (SPED). But for $249.90, I think topping up abit more can get a decent TNF? I'm gonna look around some more. Any TNF users who can recommend a reasonably priced model?
