My issue seems to be with the 2wire. While doing some testing, I disabled the DHCP server on the 2wire and enabled the DHCP server on my DIR-655. Later, I try to renable the DHCP server on the 2wire, but to no avail. It keep telling me that the system is busy and to try later. Heck, nothing else is going on, since I couldn't get Internet. So what is the 2wire busy about? I tried rebooting this multiple times, but no success.

In the end, I remove the ONT to 2wire connection and rebooted the 2wire. Only then was I able to re-enable my DHCP server on it without getting the "System busy" error message.

Try a hard reset and see how?

Hello all

I would like to know why on fibre optic 50mbps plan, download stuffs from Mediafire and Megaupload is even slower speed than my previous ADSL 10mpbs plan?

I am getting only 60 - 80KB/s from MF/MU/FS all these download link...whereas using ADSL i can dl 700kb/s ++ I have premium for MU..but after installing of singtel firbe optic.. the MU download speed is sux to the core.

What all of your download speed from MF and MU?

Black 2wire modem alot of problem... after .25 firmware still alot of problem keeping calling them for the ast 2 weeks and complain... Singtel guy came yesterday and reflash the .25 firmware.. working fine now except ultra slow download speed from MF/MU but speedtest.net show DL spped of 35Mbps ++ (As I am using wireless N), not directly connected using LAN. (LAN DL Speed is 52Mbps)

Today singtel cso called me again as I complain..they offered me 1 mth waiver of exStream internet bill.

I'm not using the 2Wire for internet nor am I using MF/MU/FS, so I can't comment on your case unfortunately...

For the whole of last night, I couldn't get Internet up at all. Again, my local network was working (DIR-655 as both a wireless and wired switch, wireless cameras, laptops and desktops), but none of the PCs or laptops could get Internet. I switched off and on so many times that my on/off switch came off (I used one of those 3-way plug).

Here are some of the findings:

1) I use the DHCP server on the 2wire. If the 2wire is totally dead, then my desktops and laptops would not be able to obtain an IP address. They did, which would suggest that the 2wire is up, at least long enough to hand out IP addresses.

2) I could ping all my devices on my local network. Ping to the 2wire doesn't always work (usually fail), with the timeout message. This would suggest that 2wire can be up (ping works) or down (ping fails).

3) Pinging to an Internet address (e.g. www.singnet.com.sg) gives me a timeout error most of the time. The fact that I could resolve the hostname into IP address would suggest that I could at least get some service from Singnet's DNS servers.

4) I either can't open the 2wire (192.168.1.254), or when I open it, some of the icons were missing.

When I complained to Singnet on Saturday, they say that they will contact me on Monday to book a time for them to come down and replace my 2wire. They didn't call me. As it is, I'm now without Internet at home.

Wow ST FB so many problems. Is there a thread on SH or M1 FB connection.
This coming Mar, my place will be installing the FB cable. From the problems I have read so far, I think I better wait a longer time before I sub the FB plan. Stick to my ADSL is still a better choice till all these crap things solve by ST.

ST fibre itself is stable. What probably isnt is the firmware upgrades they pushed down to the 2Wires. I am not using the 2Wire for internet and things have been smooth so far.

Then again, there are others on the 2Wire not having any problems either, so it may be due to something else.

If you are not using the 2-Wire for internet, then what are you using to surf the website for internet.

What all of your download speed from MF and MU?

Last night my MU download speed capped @ 5Mb/s
Downloading 2 files using Jdownloader 15 connections.. each files around 2.6Mb/s.
But again, I am not using the MioBox for my internet too. My miobox is just for MioTV.

I got my fibre installed and every went well EXCEPT for one. I am unable to print (from my Mac) by using IP printing (Canon MF8350). The network is now 100% connected through the 2Wire router. I have no problem in printing when the Mac and printer is connected via a different router.

Anyone has a similar problem?

Update to my saga.

I called 1688 to ask if they have managed to arrange for a 2wire exchange. I was transferred to the fibre department, and the person there told me that I should do a hard reset on my 2wire first. I told the person I am not at home, and I can only do that when I am home.

Just when I was about to hang up, I got an incoming call. This was from the person I spoke to on Saturday. She told me that she has arranged for a technician to do a one-for-one exchange on Saturday. I told her that her colleague told me to do a hard reset. She said I should not do that as I might lose all the configuration settings, including mioTV and mioVoice.

You see what I mean in my previous post. Different tech staff will tell you different things. If you try calling another one, you wont be surprise you might have another answer.

to be honest... since they are coming down to replace the 2Wire, there's no harm doing the hard reset.
I did hard reset a few times and my miobox still does mioTV fine.

Signed up for Singnet Fibre 200mbps.

Singtel people coming on the 26 Jan, so I still can brace myself for it.

As of now, my laptop's network card is a wireless G.

Any recommendations for to change it to a wireless N?

The opennet box is in the living room.

Don't intend to wire my house up, is homeplug the next best alternative to wiring for picking up stronger speeds in the room?

Thanks

haha, thanks for your input.

Cat 5e cables will suffice right?

I can always bring my laptop out to the living room but still best if I can hit a stable room speed, need not be 200mbps.
