i dun think theres any chance we get to buy 3 strikers and successfully move these 3 guys out so fast next season. Maybe 1 or 2 of them can leave to free up wages for 1 good European type striker like Suis fr Lpool.

I think Fat Fug knew that some top clubs are eyeing on him. Thus extend his contract so that can make another 35mil...:s13:

for Tiote, i think the wage for tat 6 year contract has used up a small chunk of the 35 mil .

For Barton, Mike Ashley wants money back for Barton since he is 28 already. Its simple as tat. Given Mike's policy of getting money back into the club via transfers.
If he gives Barton a contract pass 30, he won't get a single cent back for the club

i dun have high hopes to see Barton and Enrique in Newcastle next season

A longer contract just means the value of the player is higher, Fat Mike should know that well. If Barton only has 1 year left, he can potentially hold up on his contract talks and talk to other clubs when he has 6 mths to run.

Side note, saw the Carling cup finals yesterday and Larsson who we are supposedly after this summer looks gd down the right flank for Birmingham. Could be a very gd signing for us, especially on free!

Saw Ben Arfa on the bench when we played Bolton. He looks happy. Hope to see him back on the field again.

he damn lucky..out of nowhere he overnight became newcastle's star player.

But he is a talented player. The goal he scored against Everton is beautiful. 10 out of 10 Butt or Smith will put it over the bars...:s12:

Fat Mike knows. But he only wants to give a 2 yr extension, which means 3 yrs in total. Still able to sell Barton on a fee yet safe guard Newcastle fr high wages if he doesn't play well when pass 30+. This is something Barton doesn't want as he wants a longer period.

this Carling cup win for Birmingham shows that in a final, everything is possible. If you work hard and to your strengths, you can win. Even if opponent is a top club.

Alas, Newcastle always bungle up in the past during finals.....

Hope that Fat Mike stay true to his words and reinvest that 35m in the team. Wages + transfer fees, we could easily get 2-3 decent players with that money.

With players such as Enriques, Jonas and Barton all threaten to leave if no money being reinvested. It will be interesting to see how Fat Mike deal with the situation...but i think he might sign players from the Coca Cola league.

Imo, there are gems to be uncovered in the lower league too. Just got to do your due dilligence and u might get the next Tim Cahill, Charlie Adams etc.

Side note, I like Gervinho. Young, gd with his feet, pacy and strong to go along with calm finishing. Such a signing would indicate to our players and potential players that we are in it for real. A 8-10m price tag would be decent and hopefully we can beat off Liverpool among other teams that are interested in him.

Ya, once he knew that some big clubs are interested in him. He is getting big headed...cun really blame him if he choose to leave but to us, it is hard to let a good player leave. Why no one ever ask for donkey or Smith??:s11:

Like, Admire, Wishes all we want,

Reality = This is Newcastle. We will never ever get that kind of exciting world class prospect playing for us. FM doesn't and won't cut that kind of deal for us.
He hasn't done so for these few years and he certainly isn't going to start doing it now.

Another point to note. Newcastle is a town/city that isn't exactly a world-class city/town/state (Not like London, Manchester, Milan, Rome, Madrid) but more of an industrial state. I've read an article before that states the geographical disadvantage for us and Sunderland.

One might argue that we've gotten HBA...but while I agree that he has youth and talent, he was a wantaway player for Marseille and wanted to move overseas. I think the combination of bad attitude and arrogance scared away Investors like Arsenal..Man Utd etc. Thats why we are able to get him.

We definitely lose out in terms of attractiveness of city. London is a bigger city, more night life etc but as Tiote pointed out, everyone is too bz there. Having been to London myself, it's a very depressing place actually. Always raining/foggy, lousy traffic.

Big pluses for a city like Newcastle is that, we are definitely no.1 in terms of soccer madness. There is only 1 team/sport in Newcastle n that players who swore loyalty and do well for the club will be worshipped as heroes for ages. Plus we have a magnificient stadium which is slowly getting packed to the max again and players will definitely feel the atmosphere so hopefully all these will attract quality players.

VS Everton without Cahill and fellaini ~ good chance to nick 3 pts...

We are hard to beat at home. But sometime it is hard to get all 3 pts too...haha. Anyway hope we can get a win. Btw, out of the next 10 games; only 3 games we are playing team above us. The other 7 games are teams below us. Seem like we should finish 7th to 9th position this season.
