The Rong Chen BKT there the meat is damn tough. :o

The duck there is delicious. Do try the roast meat stall in the same coffee. My wife and my son, 3 of us alway order the braise duck, kian chye duck soup and add on a plate of char siew and roast pork from the other stall. The char siew here to me come 2nd after the KL Overseas char siew,

i like the cheese + ham... or the kaya peanut... or just anything that just came out freshly baked... sometimes if i can't decide which bread i want... if i see them dish out a tray of freshly baked bread... i'd point at that and say i wan that... :D

their bread cost between $0.60 to $0.80 each... can't think of many places that sells bread so cheap... and is good... :)

edit:
ieat has a review of the bread here: http://ieatishootipost.sg/2009/05/serangoon-gardens-bakery-and.html

LOL that's a good idea! I'll do that the next time I can't make up my mind (which happens often when the breads/cakes are so yummy). that's really cheap. yeah, I doubt many places sell bread this cheap and good. whoa, this bakery has been around forever! I have a penchant for old bakeries especially those in old shophouses, the aroma of freshly baked bread just pull you in. ham + cheese is my all-time favorite be it bread or sandwiches. kaya peanut? never tried this combo, I'll give it a shot =:p

I never trust the taste bud of ieat. ;)

ieat is a hit and miss. Also I'm still sore over their forum kaki who consider themselve arbiter of good taste and turned my favourite briyani stall into something singaporeanised briyani.

The food recommended in this thread is still the best.. 80% a hit for me.

To be fair to ieat, it wasn't him who make those recommendation. It was those forum kakis in ieat changed the briyani with their opinion of what is a good briyani.

Everyone has different taste and preferences. It's impossible to agree 100%. Generally ieat is pretty spot on.

In regards to the briyani at Dunlop/Perak Road. It tried it over a year ago. It was alright but in my opinion the location of the restaurant isn't good as there is very little pedestrian traffic. It's difficult to find parking nearby. At that time during weekend lunch there wasn't any crowd at all. I found the drinks too expensive. I ordered the small portion of the briyani at $3 and the lime juice cost me around $3! I walked past recently there were a few tables occupied so not that bad.

I tried Blue Diamond briyani recently and felt that it was better value as it costs $8.20 including a coke, came with decent size piece of mutton, an egg and pappadam.

.

Different taste is acceptable.. What is frustrating is when they 1st tried the briyani, they said it was one of the best briyani. That means in its original form, they themselve like it very much. Why go and tweak it to something totally different. Removing the gamey flavour of mutton was my biggest dissapointment, coz in Singapore, this is hard to come by. In fact I have no where in singapore to find strong gamey flavor mutton briyani anymore.

Anyway thanks for intro another new briyani. Will try Blue diamond some day.
