$179 for Himedia 300A not really cheap for just a media player.
Imation media player was $109 at IT show.
Astone 110 was $100 at Sitex show
(Altho' the above don't have internal HDD support but actually it is better bec' you can plug out the portable disk and copy from PC instead of relying on samba)

I got the HD 300A with the latest SG firmware install. Can you PM me the code to unzip the HiMedia_HD300A_HD300B_PlaySmart_Ver10230.zip? I install the official firmware on himedia and wish to go back to your firmware.

Please PM me.

fyi: according to Himedia they are developing new firmware to support www.todou.com

Akide can't get the emule to work. But the BT/Samba functions are always working, especially the transmission BT client.

Yup..anyway i've given up on emule already.

BTW.. HiMedia has released an official FW v1.0.4.6 for 300A

I've not updated it myself yet as I'm not quite ready to forgo the playsmart's version of 1.0.3.10 yet.

For those who are good at mandarin, here's the release notes:
[FONT=仿宋_GB2312]给力2011，海美迪固件率先在RTD最新SDK上同时支持DTSHD、TRUEHD 5.1降解输出和7.1源码输出，以及增加对AAC、DTS、AC3、WMA的高级音频设置。

1) 次世代音频 DTS-HDMA、TRUEHD 降级输出和源码输出，可以通过设置配置
2）增加高级音频设置，可以单独对DTS、AC3、WMA、AAC做源码或解码输出的选择；
3) HDMI输出为RAW的时候， LPCM7.1 以 7.1输出 （之前是2.0)
4) 增强HDMI电视兼容性，解决部分有硬件问题的电视上面， 只有图像没有声音的情况；
5) 解决屏幕保护后，字幕不显示的问题
6) 音频播放，在设置页面停止，再回到音乐播放的时候，死机；
7) PPS GOTO窗口，按title搜索死机。
8) BD 播放列表解析完善，解决个别BD电影的播放列表解析出错

Any bros can pm me the password for the playsmart 500B firmware? I installed the 1.0.4.7 official firmware and wish to revert back to playsmart version.

I have upgraded to the new firmware. Speed of going through the PPS menu
is a bit fast now. The previous firmware was very slow. Actually, I found going
through the menu page by page is very painful. The search function also
useless because cannot search in english only chinese (must know haoyin ping yi).

Are you able to view the movies? I can view the menu and titles but cannot view.. No VIP status like when it first started:(

Yes, able to view. I don't see any VIP status, all are normal viewer (icon in blue).
What error message you recieved? Which ISP you on? Mine Singnet.

hand itchy went ahead and bought the new Himedia 600A (released in China on 10th Apr, stock just arrived today) from classic concept store for $199.

my 1st media player so dunno how it compared to 1073DD & 1055 player. Was going to get the HD300A ($169) but can't resist HD600A design. Still waiting for HD600B (25th Apr release).

So far it plays 1080P MKV (abt 12.7GB) smoothly over home network. The player feels warm after 45mins of playing around, but not really hot.

YouKou and QQLive keeps hanging/buffering, doesn't play smoothly. was trying CCTV1, runs smoothly but will hang in middle for some vids. Think these may improve as new firmware being released.

Mine is icon with a letter 'P' (Blue). Using starhub.
Error msg is Cannot Play this Media File ..very frustrating
