Well on one hand it has no VRM/cut corners issues like GTX 570/590 but at the $66x cheapest range a pair of XFX HD6950CF @ $488 offers more horsepower if single GPU set ups are not the only criteria...

HD6850 CrossFire PK GTX580/HD5970

I agree 6850 CFX is a more reasonable approach for more horsepower, but u should also know that most games do not support Crossfire, single gpu wins in terms of gaming compatibility:D

CF scaling and compatibility has ramped up greatly going from HD4k to HD6k actually and previous gen yes i would point to poor scaling and not worth multi GPU set ups but this current gen @@

what's the best sub 200 card?

1st hand there is the Sapphire HD 5830 Xtreme $189 and Palit GTX 460 768 $199 but if in stocks i would think $9 over for the Sapphire HD 5850 Xtreme best buy in the lot hehe

Yep saw that in PCT latest pricelist - ask how long warranty offered lor but at that price fantastic buy as all HD 5770 currently are even higher priced but Tradepac seems to have Sapphire XTreme HD 5830/5850 $175/205 so can check that out as well :D

if Tradepac's 5850 still available for $205 can hoot sia..

5850 vs 5830, performance difference.. 40-50%?

Why do I always see HD 6950 2GB in the price lists in SLS but not HD 6950 1GB?

I can't seem to find it :(

And what is the price?

And what is the price?

Even in big markets like USA/Europe not much 1GB HD 6950 offerings so small one like SG ....

Still, games have a higher crash rate than with single gpu solution:s22:If u are buying xfx, stick with ref model for good pcb quality

so batuchka, for ATi cards

5850 $205 is the best bang-for-buck card now
followed by 5830 $155?

anything else in between?

thinking if should go for nVidia instead..

5850 all out of stock unless second hand..

The data from Toms, Anand, Guru, HardOcp all points to many assumptions/prejudices for CF/SLI debunked actually with current crop of cards :D

Best Graphics Cards For The Money: May 2011

and ya HD 6850CF best option for pricepoint hehe
Best PCIe Card For ~$340:
2 x Radeon HD 6850 in CrossFire

GTX 580 merely warrants an honorary mention at a much higher $490 price point so while single GPU solution in earlier gen sounds logical/reasonable, current crop scaling/price-performance makes this far from apparent hehe

Best PCIe Card For ~$490: None
Honorable Mention: GeForce GTX 580
