Agree that you should go for Sandybridge now that it's official.

Or wait for Sandybridge-E???

Off topic question; will there be an Ivy Bridge E or it will jump direct to the Haswell architecture like Nehalem??

I think so too. In the event that Bulldozer is significantly faster than Bulldozer I guess I can always sell it and get BD, or wait for Ivy Bridge.

For your second question, I think it's likely.

LGA 1155 -> Mainstream performance segment
LGA 2011 ->Enthusiast segment

Since Sandy Bridge-E is the enthusiast variant of Sandy Bridge, and Ivy Bridge is supposedly compatible with LGA 1155, it makes sense to think that there will be an Ivy Bridge-E follow up for the LGA 2011 platform.

Why there is a delay for bulldozer ???

Unknown. Most rumors point to current B1 steppings showing lower than expected performance, and AMD is relying on B2 steppings to deliver the performance they expect.

Now, what I'm wondering here is why do they mean by expecteded. Because AMD could be expecting BD to outperform SnB by 100%, or they could be expecting it to just match SnB. :s22:

Less than expected performance should not be taken as saying that "BD sucks" because it is extremely ambiguous.

From Anandtech's article

On the other hand, the fact that AMD’s 3 tiers are 1 digit higher than Intel’s respective i3/i5/i7 tiers will not go unnoticed.

Cheeky cheeky AMD :p

So sad, I waited more than a year only to chicken out last me... But then my desire to wait is tempered by the fact that AM3+ will be a one generation only socket...

AM3+ will be only one generation socket, FYI
AMD Trinity works on FM1 socket not AM3+
according to my previous post:

FM1 will stay for a longer period given the fact that
FM1 motherboard only have southbridge on it.
Northbridge is together with the APU, any changes
to the Northbridge can just change the APU.

Yup that's what I said what =:p

So maybe better to get SnB now and see how Enhanced Bulldozer pans out. In the end Bulldozer is really kinda like Lynnfield/LGA1156 :s22:

Ok, my mind is made up now. SnB here I come.

hmmm, based on what one mod had said before , cannot have advertising or price stated or even reviews on the products in the thread .. I guess can already CLOSED this thread Liao . cos AMD or intel are not supported by any local distro , only can advertised and stated the price or post any reviews if the distro had registered with the forum wol.

U r like playing a waiting game, its never ending. IMO... just get a SB now... use it. Until end of the yr, see what both intel and AMD have to offer.

hello fellow impatient encoder going for SnB:s22:
too bad Llano couldn't compete with SB/SnB in terms of encoding...

Yup, I made up my mind already. Currently compiling my build now. Exciting!

Hello fellow encoder. Yes, I have a huge pile of videos piling up for my soon-to-be i7-2600K to encode. Nope, I don't think Llano stands a chance. It's still a Phenom at its core.

Just get SnB and don't look back. Look forward to Ivy Bridge.

Late summer for Bulldozer, June 14 for AMD Llano.
Those who can't wait than go for Intel SB.

But then you seem to go for HTPCs more right? AFAIK 900 series doesn't seem to have integrated GPU (or do they?), so perhaps Enhanced Bulldozer or Llano is a better fit for your needs.

Actually i had earlier sent an email regarding AM3+/FM1 w.r.t Komodo/Trinity but that time they just plainly stated cannot discuss unrelased products so will await update on that but either way my HD 4670 is all GPU power i will ever need :p
