My humble review on the new Pixie comparing the Citiz.
I already owned the Citiz in my office and bought this for home.
Water Tank
Very small at 700ml, normally i have to top up after 3 days, but i have to top up every two instead.
The handle is very stiff and the machine is too light
Once i lifted the handle up, the machine swayed, toppled the glass and breaking it.
This has never been the problem with the Citiz, as i can just flick the handle up with a finger.
With the Pixie, i have to press to hold the machine down with a finger and lift up with another. Or you have to lift it up slowly, not with force.
The water tank is smaller
I think it's 30-40% lesser.
I used to top up my water every after 3 days, now it's gone in 2
Pixie's new feature - Retractable cable
It's not auto retractable, you have to wind it up manually and tuck it in underneath.
Pixie's new feature - Water tank light indicator
It is suppose to reflect a dim red light if the tank is not full.
Not the case for myself, it still reflects full tank when my tank is almost dry.
Something is wrong here.
Pixie's new extraction unit
When you pull up the handle, the nozzle head will extend out.
After which there will be a slot for you to insert the capsule in. Lifting up the handle second time ejects the capsule and stops the drip.
The problem with the new system is, when i lifted up to eject the capsule, the head extends out and the hot drops drips to the side of my cup or my finger.
When you lift up the handle to stop the drip, what happen is there will be a run of water from the excess flowing down the nozzle. If it hits the side of you cup, it will splatter onto the table
The crema produced by the Pixie is not as fine as what's coming from my Citiz, not as dense.
Pixie's tray
The tray that collects the excess water is terribly small, it overflows easily, please empty it more regularly
The tray can flip up to fit a taller cup, but the tray don't flip and hold there like Citiz's. You have to lean a glass against the tray to keep it folded up. Make sure the cup has some weight, else the tray will just push it's weight down and push the glass away.
Misc
I read from somewhere that Pixie is using a new system to counter compatible capsules. As many are not aware, the patent ends in 2012 and probably there will be some redesign in the capsules. The compatible manufacturers will make the capsules base on the older expiring patent.
What's sure, all the old machines are definitely compatible with the new capsules. It may not be the case for the new machines.

If you are thinking those compatible coffee are of inferior standards. You are wrong, they are made by other giants companies like Sara Lee, Casino tycoons, coffee used are just pure Arabicans. I'm very sure there will be more options in future. I'm very sure the alternatives will be cheaper too.
To sum it up, it's certain the old machines have many other options of coffee or even chocolate/tea in the near future.
BTW those compatible capsules don't infringe any copyrights/patent law. As they are redesigned based on a different format, Sara Lee won the law suit in France against Nespresso, and has already sold them all over officially.
