hmmm mine is the new batch with blue dot. I managed to root it and flash it to phiremod 6.3. Am i doing something wrong?

hi Guys,

I understand you guys uses the rooted Nook mostly as a tablet, any one uses it as a reader?
My question is whether it works as a reader as well as using the stock rom?

I'm contemplating getting myself one to play around, but without 3G capability, most likely I will use it as an eReader, so checking if it is a good eReader even after rooting. =)

if you only want a ereader, would suggest you get a dedicated one, like nook touch or kindle. the color screen still not so good for long time reading.

yeah i saw that too in my search.. actually looking at the Nook Color because I'm not looking for just a eReader.
Would use it to surf if im home, play some light games at times, and when I'm out, maybe read some books when I'm free (since there aint that much network). So actually asking if it would still be good for reading, or is there Apps which makes reading PDF files easy (eg. Goodreader in iPhone, using that currently )

ezpdf, repligo. good for pdf.
moon+ reader. good for txt, chm and etc.
kindle app good for mobi.

as i mentioned, 30 min to 1 hr reading might be ok. longer than that not so comfortable for eyes liao.

tat's wad i use the nook for actually. mostly reading, some games n some light surfing. no probs at all. really like my nc so no regrets

btw, i read for hours at a go

I'm using the Nook Color primarily as a ereader. I've rooted it and you can still use stock OS and still gain access to the Android Market. Personally I like the stock ereader app as compared to those on the Android Market.

i am quite sure brand new nc with blue dot must be repartitioned before installing custom rom. you can do a search in this thread and the other nook color thread. all those with blue dot did repartitioning. either you forgot you have done that or that particular "brand new" one is special.

I guess it's because I followed a new method of rooting. Followed the instructions on xda that has a new rooting method for blue dot. Don't think my brand new nook is that 'special'
