Simple step by step instructions for Wifi sets only:

1. Rooting yr tabby 10.1
http://galaxytabhacks.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-hacks/how-to-root-galaxy-tab-10-1-the-easy-way/

2. Backup your ROM after rooting
http://galaxytabhacks.com/galaxy-ta...rom-on-galaxy-tab-10-1-using-rom-manager-app/

3. OC yr tabby from 1.0Ghz to 1.4Ghz
http://galaxytabhacks.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-hacks/how-to-overclock-your-galaxy-tab-10-1-to-1-4ghz/

Root at your own risk. Rooting your tabby and mucking with ROMs will void the warranty.

Lastly, UNROOT your tabby to revive warranty:

About the SIM card slot, is it supposed to have a push spring effect when we are inserting or removing the SIM card?

For me, I have to use a pair of tweezer to pull the SIM card out. Could it be that I'm using a microsim adaptor, that's why I'm facing this problem?

im using the original cable and charger. :( i charg e for whole day emd up 20% only. Sounds ridiculous man. Now it keep onprompting me to plug to socket ehich i already did! It keeps showig usb connected. MTP-connected. Any idea if its setting error? :(

I don't remember doing any setting for my battery.
BTW, are u talking about charging from a computer's USB port or straight from the power socket...??
If its from the power socket, u should not see the MTP- connected message, right..?

By right, no need to pull out even if using adapter. Just have to push in and it will spring out slightly for u to pull out.

Some wols news for those interested in DIYing:

http://www.galaxytabs.com/2011/07/diy-usb-host-for-galaxy-tab-10-1/

If not, can order OEM from here at US9.99:
http://shop.kineteka.com/products/214-samsung-galaxy-tab-usb-host-kit.aspx
Shipping is US11.90
If ship 5 pcs, its about US$12.37 or SGD15.26 each inclusive of shipping

...or be patient and wait for our creative friends in China to come up with something less than 1/2 the price of the original acc :D

I'm already fashioning one this weekend. You don't have to purchase from them, just pick up on male connector from old galaxy tab and find a male to female usb connector, just like the kit.

rooted and optimizing

Been playing my GT 10.1 3G + Wifi for about 2 weeks now. I must say the smoothness is still not comparable to iPad 2 (having used both). I've incrementally optimizing it to run smoother. For example from Apps back to Home and vice versa, you can clear see slight lag in the animation.

So far i've rooted, installed CWM, installed V6 Supercharger. Still on stock rom. 3G ROM is limited to BroodComb and another for now. I've installed quite a few games to test. One thing i realised is that after exiting from some games, the tablet takes like 3-5 secs to be smooth again. I'm reading that the launcher on stock GT 10.1 is not good? Any of you out that has change to a different launcher?

Currently i have not updated the new KH4 firmware that is appearing on Kies yet. Still on KG7 that came with the tablet.

Just wondering - if i update to KH4/KH7 via Kies, i will need to re-root the phone again, right? Anyone updated and found any performance/bug fixes?

Also, am waiting for nice cases to pop up for the GT 10.1 in SG. Now using a ****ty screen protector with rainbow effect (LOL) and no case, with back protection clear plastic still on.

Also, i forgot to mention. I used an iPad 2 charger (5V, 2A) to try charging the galaxy tab. It displays a red "X" on the battery, but it actually charges REALLY slowly. It did display MT-P connected.

Does that mean we can only use the original charger? Anyone bought a third-party GT10.1 charger?
How about those portable power station (5V,1A output) that works with the iPad 2? Any one tried?

Anyone bought the USB adaptor? Can it can read thumbdrive as an additional drive and allows all the necessary file transfer?

Starting to feel some restriction here and there on tab so need confirmation before buying. =:p
