Any recommendations for Nvidia and Radeon cards between $130-$200 range?

Trying to wait for D3 to launch till upgrade but my Asus G210 temp card cannot last 1 year and burnt my board..

Now thinking of upgrading 1st to meet that requirement for graphic card. PC can come later when have money :)

One of the speculated for recommended hardware.
(lol G210 no where near...)
PC
OS: Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Latest Service Packs) | Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
or AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz | Memory: 2 GB RAM | Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® 260 or
ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 or better

Regards

HD 6790 or a 2nd hand GTX460/HD5850.

I'm not sure if your P43 chipset supports PCI-e 2.0 cards. Remember to update your Bios too.

What is your PSU? Take a picture of the spec sticker if you're not sure. What are you gonna use it for, ie, what games are you gonna play? With a budget of 100, you're limited to 2nd hand cards.

Not really sure what you're asking. 230vac? i'm using the most common $10 psu in sim lim, my PC is custom fix years back so i doubt got any spec stickers.

I have a impression that GT 220 is quite old, since recent trip to sim lim i saw they don't even have the model on price lists. So i thought of upgrading.

Gaming purposes, recently new games like RAGE and Deus Ex. Currently i can run those games but not on high settings. What about budget near 100plus or below 200? any cards (preferbly Nvdia) i can buy, that is value for money?

Cheers

bro felfirez,

just wondering, it seems 5850 is faster than 460, yet 2nd prices seems to be about on par for both ~$150-160.

So is 5850 actually faster or is there some issues with it? Btw, 5850 is good noise/temperature? Cos using4890 now so scared of noise/heat

thanks!!

A cheapo PSU eh? I'd say it'd be dangerous to put anything new with it. But if you still insist, you can go for HD6670, HD6750 or GTS450. Find these in the 2nd hand market if you can.

HD5850 is a good card, so is the GTX460 and yea the HD5850 is faster than the 460. You don't have to worry about heat issues. Those belong to the HD5830 and GTX465. If you can get either for $150 or less I'd say grab it.

What is the best GPU upgrade for my rig ---->
without changing cpu+mobo & be able to play bf3 at mid or high setting with >40fps. My current rig can play bf3 at low setting with about 30fps. Thanks.

GTX460, HD5850. What's your PSU brand/wattage?

Antec 380W, guess need to upgrade this.
Maybe a FSP Aurum AU-600W or Seasonic M12II 820W 80+ Bronze.

How about GTX 560 Ti or 570? Will it still work for games like Diablo 3 and BF3?

There's no Seasonic M12ii 820w. Any higher gfx will be bottlenecked by your CPU.
