Not a must la. But good to have..most of the tutorial questions are from the textbook! furthermore, if u think dr ludil is going too fast, the textbook offers a breakdown of the concepts & solutions.

Textbooks are not necessary to the course. Personally I feel that textbooks are pretty useless and you will be better off reading academic articles and quoting them during the exam. Textbooks are there just to help you understand the concepts better. You can pick up any books in the Sim library to help you understand the concepts, no need to be the recommended text.

The quantitative methods textbook is not worth buying in my opinion. You will not get to use much of it too. Probably just some practice questions you will have to refer to.

I dont know about the third year modules but the second year modules after quants doesn't contain much maths. A little bit of economics maths from managerial econs and some financial mathematics from corporate finance.

Quants looks difficult at first but it is just very systematic. you just follow the instructions step by step to solve the problem and all the questions are fairly the same. good luck

Just to add, the differentiation techniques taught in quants will be brought forward to modules like managerial economics.

May i ask

How will i be able to specialize further? I feel its very general. Can i still complete as much as I can here, until my third year and maybe complete a specialization semester to make my degree less general?

no, it is strictly a general management degree with no specialisation.

what do U mean by opt? anyone in this program can go UK?
or need to apply thru UCAS and its selective?

Anyone in this program can opt to transfer to UK provided the applicant had achieved at least a 2:1 in the first year of study. There is no need to apply through UCAS.

bro, care to share why?

other than their studying schedule..
uom(2yrs), uol(3yrs)
uom(1mod/2mths, 6mod/yr), uol(4units per yr)

any idea what's the job prospect?

I think UOM has a better schedule than UOL programs. You take exams on a module by module basis which makes it easier to study for your exams. I have never taken UOL exams before but seeing the high failure rate for UOL programs I chose UOM.

Job prospect wise I'm not too sure as I'm still in the UK right now. I've tried applying to SPF and they recognize my cert.

They stated a B avg on the website. You can try to apply to UOM if your GPA is >2.5 and hope they take you in. I would suggest you apply to other schools too in case you got rejected by them. If you've got below 2.5, you will most probably be rejected as I've got friends who got rejected with a GPA of <2.5. :)
